How is that different than any other food you purchase? All of it has a long "processing" time if you include from preplanning to seed to growth to picking to transport, even for something that is relatively "farm to table" or even if you DIY it.

Got out of departmental meeting. Bad news is, I'm taking on several more projects. Good news is, one of the project/proposal do pass by the board, I'll be bumping up in the pay grade. Bumping up only 1, but I gonna push it 2 up instead.

Careful there, whiskey takes a lot longer than syrup to create, you may send him off the deep end....

a bottle of tequila takes 8-20 years, and can easily be polished off in a night.

If something takes longer than a hot pocket in a microwave it's too long for me. FUN FACT: I hear a hot pocket takes longer to cool than to make it, transport it to a store, buy it, drive it home, and cook it.

Something good happened to us today...

Back in March we ordered a new french door for our patio. The old one is rotting through, the frame is in desperate shape, and after 20 years it just needs replaced. We were told it would take about 10 weeks to come in and to play it safe they set the install 12 weeks out. Called the company at 12 weeks they said another 4 weeks. We tried to cancel but were told to read the back of our contract and delays were not cause for cancelling a special order. 4 weeks later no news but the expectation the door would be in by the end of the week so they scheduled the install for today.

They arrive today with the door and my wife is texting me from the other room while I am working telling me "by the look on their faces" something is wrong. They were outside scratching their heads, taking measurements, making phone calls... finally the installer comes in and says "I don't know how to tell you this but the door is too small and it's the manufacturer's mistake."

I laughed and I said - you mean... we have an out??? He was confused. I said we wanted out of this contract and the office said no. But now that the issue is not delays and a defect we can cancel with no penalty? He was all "ummmmm.... what?" He could not believe we were so happy.

So here's the back story. The opening for our door is about 6" narrower than a stock door that you can buy for $500 at a big box store. We tried getting a custom door 5 years ago and it was quoted at $5,500. Instead we had the frame rebuilt, replaced the astragal, and the door painted. At the time the frame was rebuilt, we found out the builder shimmed the door out by.... you guessed it.... 6". So this time around we figured about $2,000 for a stock door plus about $600 for installation. To quote Bailey Sarian, "neigh neigh". The total bill was over $9,000.

We are so happy about this situation. The contractor thinks we are nuts. We are out free and clear. Back to the big box.
