This cert study guide reads like Ben Stein is teaching it. I can feel myself getting dumber as neurons repulse in horror from this dry, monotonous, epically boring crap I am studying and commit suicide rather than pass the signals anymore.

I've seen multiple people on Spyderchat with 2GR + E153 complain about the ratio spread being too small for the 2GR, it takes some really tall rear tires to get the gearing down to something that makes sense for such a big engine.

Although if I'm going to be perfectly honest, if I had to pick a car with a 2GR-FE, it would be a 2010 Evora The 3000lb wet weight puts me off a bit though, I wish Lotus could get their s*** together because Porsche uses steel instead of aluminum and aluminum instead of fiberglass, has way more luxury features, has a heavier engine, and their cars end up more powerful and the same weight? Whatever happened to "add lightness"?

Speaking of Porsches, I see a 2009 Cayman for 24k...I can't say that's not tempting, even with the exploding dinosaur drive PS pumps.

Can someone talk me into getting an FRS though? They're way easier to find on craigslist, but I feel like I would vomit a little every time I get into the car and look at the space invaders dash.

Said it before but worth repeating:

Won't even notice the pattern after about 2 days (on that note I was surprised the other day when I realized that there are still red parts on the seats)

Plastidip and wrap materials would be a couple of bucks to do the dash. Hell if really offended by it a couple of hours work and some spray paint would fix it forever.

I have zero issues with it as well! I do prefer the original style to the newer one though.

Though I suppose the BRZ has space invaders in the console too.

I dunno, the BRZ instrument panel looks way more badass. I guess that's modifiable but adding to my already really long planned mods list makes my head hurt. I would have to replace the halogens, more bulbs, the badges, the head unit, and the space invaders trim. Plus, "I have a Scion" makes me cringe?

So, I assume you know this is a stylized "old school" Toyota symbol correct?




It sounds like you really don't want a Scion for whatever reason so why torture yourself with it if the badging means that much to you? I'd personally just move on if I cared that much.

What the heck is this space invaders stuff all about? i know the game, I still have an Atari 2600,but in no way does any twins instrument cluster that I have seen look like that. Has there been some change I'm unaware of?

It's a reference to the background design on the background of the instruments, the radio surround and front dash in the 2013/2014 models and the front grill of the FR-S.

@serialk11r Haven't you been waiting on a toyobaru for years now? I mean if something as simple as the dash pattern is really going to get to you that much then you should hunt for another car. Because there are whole host of squeaks and rattles and other little quirks that would normally drive a sane man crazy but we don't even care because of how much fun the car is.

But if the dash pattern or the thought of having a scion badge churns your stomach that much, well then move along because that should be the least of your concerns with these little monsters.
