Sorry to hear man. I had to go through something similar with my previous vehicle. My car ended up sitting in the shop for almost 30 days and it probably would have sat longer had I not continuously call the service department for updates.

Wow, that's ridiculous. Are you interested in a vehicle swap or buyback?

Sorry to hear about all the other problems folks are having.

After about 2 months of DTCs/CELs with AVO and Visconti helping me every step of the way, I took the car to a mod-friendly dealer. Livermore Subaru has apparently repaired my slip light/idle stall/CEL issue for free under warranty, despite the turbo kit. I was throwing P000B, P0014, P0017, P0019, and a few other bad CELs/DTCs when the idle stall was violent enough (P219A, misfire codes, etc.).

Cam sensor was replaced, Ecutek was removed, car was re-flashed with a JA00C ROM, and the car was re-flashed with Visconti's 3 bar map tune for the AVO kit.

Livermore's staff loved the AVO kit and didn't see any issues with doing the warranty work on a modified car.

Will report back if further issues, hopefully this is the last time I have to post in this thread!

So for the first time the other day I was experiencing idle surging.

For about 2 minutes it would drop to 500 and then come up. I thought it was going to stall so I just let it idle until it stopped. I haven't had this before and haven't since. Anyone have any input on how many times/how often it has happened to them before throwing a code?

Just an update.

I got my car back after ~15 days on the original repair. They replaced the cam sensor and ECU. Drove it for ~15,200 miles with no issues, and about two weeks ago I got a CEL. Read the code, P0017. Originally it was P0019.

Took it in yesterday, they tried to fix it with just a flash. Was driving out of the dealership, turned on to the main road, and BAM CEL back on. Took the car by this morning, they read the code and ordered another ECU for it. They're telling me it's safe to drive in the meantime.

Will keep everyone updated.

Cheers
Nathan

It may be if you have the 812 ECU. I'm still running the 811. Everyone else I know personally that had this issue got the 812 relatively soon after the initial repair.

Cheers

Good to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. I left my car at the dealership today. If this problem happens again I might just look into another car.

Mines happened a week ago. I took it to the dealer, and they couldn't "duplicate" the problem. They had it for a day and half. I get the car back, and they told me to just drive it and try to make the problem happen again. So far, I haven't had the issue return.

VietnamPhenom 2013 FR-S purchased in August but was ordered in June. 2500 miles VIN: 7084XX

Dealer had it for a day and half. Could not duplicate problem, dealer returned car and was told to drive it until issue returned.

I have a 2013 FR-S, build date 11/12 delivered 01/13, VIN 17140XX, 2100 miles, 6 speed, currently not fixed and at the dealer for the past two weeks in Deerfield Beach Florida at Deerfield Toyota.
They claim that they have never heard of this problem and that it is most likley the a/c compressor engaging. It happens without the a/c on and even if it was on, there is no way that the little a/c compressor could have that effect on the engine.
Called Scion today to start a case and see if Tech Service has any ideas.
Has anyone gotten this issue fixed yet?

What exactly happens? I asked because there have been a few posts that are not entirely related to this thread. Just wanted to make sure

grodenglaive, FR-S, 11,000 miles, 7066xx, appointment made - not serviced yet, Ontario, Canada.
Always had the idle dip whenever the A/C kicked on, but not severe enough to cause CEL. Became worse a couple weeks ago when in stop and go traffic with A/C on, whole car started shaking, got CEL p0300 (random missfires, pending code - did not stay lit). At autocross event this weekend, got p0017 and the skid control light stayed on. Car was idling rough. Cleared the code and it's running smoothly today, but I know it will reoccurr.
