So, I'm having what I believe is the idle issue (idle sits at about 6-700 rpm, drops to 500, car shudders like it's going to stall, and then recovers) but no CEL's or anything. I've taken it to my dealership multiple times, and I've been told there's nothing they can do. Is TSB 02-132-12 the correct one to refer to? I'm getting tired of being told "Subaru is investigating, maybe they'll issue a recall or bulletin later." if there is already a bulletin out there.

Got my CEL shortly after rough idle issues started so shouldn't be that long for you either I guess...then the dealer will be able to read the according CEL code and will have to deal with it.

I've gone almost 12k miles with the idle issue and no CEL's. I don't have hope of the CEL showing up anytime soon.

I suppose I'll join this club finally. VIN 08052, 2.7k miles at the time of purchase.

CEL + SL light was on during my initial start up in the dealership parking lot, you'd think they wouldn't sell a car with a CEL already illuminated, but because I used this out of pocket dealer I couldn't exactly take the car back.... (this was on Friday; it is now Tuesday). I bought the car through a small company that delivered it from Chicago by truck to me here in Va. Beach. No idle dips yet....

I have an appointment with Checkered Flag Toyota right by my house tomorrow morning at 0800.

I've already put about 300 miles on her, and the cricket chirp just started yesterday (Monday) when I got home from work and was rolling my windows up. I barely heard it at first but as most of us know, once you notice it; it practically haunts you.

I spoke to an advisor this morning about this issue to double check their techs on hand have already become familiar with this issue and they actually have another FR-S there right now for the same reason.

According to the advisor, the only FR-S' experiencing idle fluctuations that have actually stalled multiple times are those with aftermarket intakes.

Can we confirm/deny this? Has anybody stalled multiple times without an aftermarket intake?

The advisor is full of BS. My AT FR-S was totally stock and suffered from idle dip all the time plus it also stalled on me a few times too. I got rid of it in november and bought a 4Runner instead.

Thanks; doesn't affect much but I had a hunch she just has something against aftermarket modifications.

I'm sad knowing I'm going to be without my car for some time (comparing the symptoms of my car with the diagnosis/fixes of others). At least nobody is alone in this issue.

I'll probably post an update when I get it back like many others have just to compare what has been changed.

NEED HELP

So I have a new 2013 Scion Fr-s with 4,000 miles on it, automatic. It's all stock, except for a Injen short ram intake. First issue I have is the speedometer, digital and analogue do not work, not sure why, rpm analogue does work. Second issue is when I start the car, it starts up then as soon as I try to push a LITTLE on the gas pedal it chokes up and starts to die unless I let go of the gas pedal, then the engine keeps working. Then other times I start it and it works fine. But as soon as I shut it down and start it, it does what I described again. I don't know if it will help but when I put it into the plus and minus (triptonic), it doesn't say it starts from 1st gear but says it's in 2nd gear and I can't put it down to 1st either. Please help or give ideas. Thank you.

Take it to the dealership asap if you let problems go for too long they seem to find ways to make it your fault from my past experiences. I would take it in and tell them the problems and let them fix it. Idle dip has been fixed with an ecu update from what my dealer told me when they fixed mine and it never came back after the fix. Hope this helps I know how frustrating it can be when the car is having problems but fixing it yourself can lead to warranty issues best to just let the dealership handle it.

not gonna lie, seeing all these issues have me reconsidering my deposit i placed for my 2013 due to hit the dealership next week. may end up waiting for a 2014 instead. the vin of my reserved one is 6075XX if that matters.

i hope this, and all the other common bugs get fixed for the next round of cars, or by 2014.
