Here is a pic after the fire, wasn't the worst fire or anything, but still baffles me as to how the alarm caught on fire

Hey kids,
I just joined to keep up on the progress of this long awaited car. I don't think it's something I'd buy since I have different cars of interest, but I'm always open to joining new, different car communities. Anyway, I just want to introduce myself. Some of you may already know me, as I go by the same name on Club4ag and Hachiroku.net. If not, I have an AE86, AW11, and GS350 AWD.

I'm looking forward to all the e-thugging, debates about cutting lowering springs, JDM lights, and typing in all caps.

Welcome to those whom I have not welcomed yet. I'm still waiting on my custom "Welcome" emoticon! I don't like Celica's either but that is one clean vehicle!

Hey, all. I'm Josh, currently in a built z31 turbo, but looking for a replacement.

I'm not sure if this is going to be considered stupid or already posted, but isn't this car basically looking like a 370Z Lite? I mean, same basic look, slightly less expensive, I'm guessing way less power (a boxer 4? seriously?)-why not just jump for a 370?

Being a Z-car man you're going to see z in everything. The point of this car is to be a lightweight, fun, 2+2, RWD. The 370 is neither lightweight, nor a 2+2. The standard engine is looking to be 200hp, and it has been said that there will probably be a TRD (TC/SC) model.

Welcome to the forum Mayesj101! It's been quoted by the chief engineer that... talk is that the concept weighs 1000 kg (2204 lbs) and "Weight is the obsession!"

we'll see.... if not, they won't sell as much, although at $22K+ that alone will vastly differentiate it from a 370z

Oh, if it's a 2200-pound car in production version, then I'd be all for it-however, you've got to have noticed the large use of carbon fiber in this car that have to be taken out if Toyota wants to hit sub---$30-40k. I'd imagine that this car in production specs will end up slightly lighter than the Scion tC (the so-called compact coupe that weighs in at slightly under 3,000 pounds).

Purely from an engineering standpoint, this car seems more like a blend of the Genesis Coupe and the 370Z. It has quite a few design cues taken directly out of the Nissan stable (if you don't believe me, look at the roof line of the GT-R and the 370Z and then look at this), but with a price point around that of the Genesis coupe's lower end.

What I'd honestly love is for this car to become the Supra descendent it should be. Leave the I-4 as a base engine and come up with a worthy descendent of the legendary 2JZ-GTE found in the Mk.4 Supra.

Finally, I'd like to point out that a $22k price isn't all that far off the 370Z's price either. MSRP on a stock 370 is slightly under $30 grand-for that 8k, you get way more horsepower in a slightly heavier package.

I most certainly will-I won't be able to upgrade out of my Z for at least a year or two, by which time I'll be able to directly compare them. Can't deny at all that the care looks absolutely incredible. Give it a strong 6 as an engine upgrade, and I won't even hesitate-I'd love nothing more than to see a 3JZ-GTE engine show up and force Nissan to come up with a credible descendant of their VG engine.

you off road alot? ive been reading that if your going for 2.5-3.0 getting the uca's would be benefitial for alignment purposes. but man, like i said, those things aren't cheap. im looking for uca's thats decent and not so expensive.

thanks. not too many people are fond of 7th gen celica. i do admit, there are alot of riced out ones but there are a few of us that stray away from that category. very few high HP ones since it does cost $$$ to get there since aftermarket parts are scarce. but if you have the $$$ or have the dedication, anything is possible.
