One thing guys:

If you're going to jury-rig some sort of sound meter beating exhaust setup, please do it properly. There are plenty of instances where people are putting on stupid contraptions and they fall off on track. Then the cars behind you either get hi or run over the contraptions, and then blow a tire or damage the car as a result. This happens too often.

I've heard stories from friends about people trying to use the silencers that come with aftermarket exhausts and the silencers fly out and do damage to the guy behind them.

Lmao yeah mine will be secure. Untill it flies off into someone's windshield...

Edit: I was just kidding. If I did make such a contraption I would try my best to make it very secure. It wouldn't be some haphazard attempt with no regard for others.

I never will forget driving behind an old slammed modded integra at WSIR where I literally had to dodge bits and pieces that were falling/ripping off his car... Luckily it wasn't a hot lap and I could kinda just laugh it off as it was a somewhat hilarious sight to behold.

It's just fuckin sad that because of the sound restriction, people have to be less safe on a race track. Safety should be priority #1. No one ever intends to be unsafe with a home-made silencer/sound deflector, but then no one wants to go to a race track with one of those things, so it just makes it a shit show.

"Just kidding. If I did make such a contraption I would try my best to make it very secure. It wouldn't be some haphazard attempt with no regard for others."

But as OL stated, I would assume the majority of people making these things go into it with the intention of it not flying off, but don't necessarily have the know-how to make a sturdy one. I was actually thinking about using exhaust piping and bolting it to the exhaust tips. I wouldn't mind having at least one permanent bolt hole for it since I do plan on driving LS many times and the dB limit is dropping to 90 for 2014 (confirmed from HOD).

When reading your post about things flying around on track hitting cars behind I was also reminded of this video:

Impressive how much air that rabbit was able to achieve. Somehow the airflow from the cars lifted him even higher?

Looks like the little guy did a huge "freak out" jump to avoid the first car then got caught by the m3 mid air.

1. I could be wrong but I think the rabbit saw that car in front of the M3 and said "OH SH*T" and did one of those super high freak out jumps that cats etc do when they get startled where they shoot straight up into the air.

or

2. It's a super bunny.

there are rodents at MRLS too... last time I was there a poor bunny or squirrel met its demise during one of the sessions. I saw a "debris" flag coming up on the corkscrew, and then on exit saw the carcass there. Well what a way to go, on the world-famous Corkscrew ...
