Is the issue still present on new production vehicles, or has it been resolved in production?
I know it's a noise only issue, but it's not something you would ever want your sports car to sound like. It's not acceptable. This time the Dealer said they will contact Toyota directly tomorrow. The Dealer acts blind to the issue. I honestly don't know if they (Holman Toyota, NJ) service enough to be aware of the known issue, or they are just trying to deal with the issue as best they can in terms of customer service since ultimately there exists no fix. |

I'm getting used to it.
Still, it is kind of dumb. I'm waiting for a real fix before I get it replaced again. |

I took my car in for its first service today and also to get the crickets checked out. They confirmed the problem but said Toyota won't replace them at this point since they don't have a working fix yet. Has anyone else heard this?

I guess working for a dealer I see another side of it. I own one as well, and our master tech and I looked at it and he said the parts are identical. We've decided not to replace it until they have an actual fix. You guys are just wasting your time and the dealerships time doing this. Pump #4, seriously? Why would you do that.

That's what they were saying over a year ago or it's normal, depending on the official line at the time.

Does this chirping inhibit selling the vehicle as of now, by all means yes. Is it an embarrassment, of course.
Is there a possible fail of this fuel pump down the road? Like someone else said and 50-100k down the road the noise proves to a complete fail of the fuel system. Then a few years down the line people are kicking themselves in the ass because they don't want to waist their time with arbitration. It's largely about being royally upset that I have almost payed this entire vehicle off, yet because of both, idle dip, and the high fuel pressure pump chirp, and the complete fail from toyota to have it fixed warrants my personal arbitration. Will anything positive come from this I hope so, as I hope for everyone else. |

Right now, yea its just a little noise that's annoying. But who knows whats actually going on and 100% why the noise is there. BUT the stuff we DO know is the noise shouldn't be there and its annoying. So being the noise shouldnt be there im inclined to think somthing major is happening and it will effect me down the road.
You guys can wait around for a fix that may never come but i would like to act now so i am protected under warranty and the lemon law |

Dealer explained that Toyota USA won't replace the pump anymore since inevitably it won't fix the problem. Dealer speaking on behalf of Toyota USA Service & Parts rep explained that Toyota is working on a new part that is expected in 60-days.
I won't wait 60-days for a new part when I drive ~500 miles per week. Under the grounds that the vehicle is not operating as purchased I have opened a case with Toyota USA and will request a buyback or trade assist into a new vehicle if they can guarantee me the part is no longer a problem in the new vehicle. |
