The recessed lightings are good. However, since one light can cover only a small area, you need many lights to cover the area. Furthermore, you definite need lights above the sink and stove do that those areas are well lighted.

Since this is a kitchen, probably no need to do dimmers on the switch, right?
yeah on the fence about recessed lighting.. and not interested in dimmer switches.

but i definitely need good lighting in my kitchen, right now its terrible.

I was actually just thinking about high school. Randomly stumbled on a person's FB who I haven't seen since I graduated. Had a crush on her, but I completely forgot she existed while I've been away for the past 4 years. It left me with an odd feeling.

If you do not have recessed lighting before in your kitchen, you would need to tear the ceiling off so that you can rewire the circuits from the switch to various places that you want and then redo the ceiling (just some other pieces of drywalls). If you only have out outlet (probably in the center of the kitchen), you have to use other means to light the kitchen.

When I bought the house I specifically asked for recessed lights right above the sink and stove area without knowing the implication. After living the house for a while, I realized that how useful those lights in that area, and I actually do not use my main kitchen light that often.

My suggestion to you: check your kitchen to see where you need light the most, and work from that. Recessed lights concentrate on a small area so you will need those in pairs. Some of the other fixtures only project the light to a certain area, and you need to consider how the fixture, the area, and people are located so that you can use the light efficiently. In my case, if I did not have the recessed light, it would be really dark in the sink area since I am blocking the light when I do dishes. (sink <== me <== light) I am merely sharing my experience.

For whatever the random opinion of a random guy on the Internet is worth, I'd steer away from recessed lighting in the kitchen. As noted above, it will be a lot of work and there is no guarantee you'll get the light you want.

I'd be more likely to go with track lighting or "spotlight" type lighting that you can adjust and get exactly where you want.

We have the spotlight type in our kitchen and it was great because we could like the fixtures exactly where we wanted it.

This the first time in over 2 years that I don't have to share a vehicle. But it's really nice to just hop in my car and go take care of my errands. I'll probably keep walking to the stores nearby but this town sucks for walking. Side walks are a new concept here.

Haha, like the Knicks stand a chance. That's why no one is there.

Rugby c0cktail party tonight

Haven't been since I was a freshman. I still remember that hangover.

EDIT: I get the feeling you guys may have an incomplete formation of who I am. Does it seem like all I do is drink?
