I called a local Scion dealer up the street and the springs and swaybars are new options for the 2015, the website doesn't have performance parts as build options. Previously you could get the air filter or intake, but it looks like no one really looked into that one.
According to the guy I talked to, who didn't sound like a complete idiot, they are port installed options and the car is delivered to them with everything installed. Like simpleasbest said, dealer installed options usually have a disclaimer you may get charged more because the dealer WILL charge you to install them unless you negotiate it into the price of the vehicle. You can get them as just normal parts and have the dealer install them as well, it's the same spring and swaybar kit as has existed the last couple years. However, that would not be CS legal, you would have to prove you ordered the car with the parts on it. |

Correction: You only need to prove you CAN order the car with the parts. Perfectly legal to add the actual parts after yourself. Just go look up DS Mini S with JCW suspension or Corvettes with Z51 package. As long as the part was available for your make/model/year car as a Standard Part, you can run it. In our case its not a full trim conversion, just seperate line item optional parts.

SCCA Solo C Street Discussion
This all sounds like great info. There is another thread that documents he spring rates that people have gathered and that one showed the TRD springs as 3.5k/5.8k. Are those the Japan only TRD springs versus what we get here as the USDM TRD springs?

The one sticky point I see is these are not Scion parts in any way, they are TRD parts and TRD manufactures them. I could see a "clarification" disallowing the use of them, but who knows. |

Also, the part numbers are clearly labeled on the parts. |

There has been some talk lately regarding this stuff since the last Fastrack there is an item to make all "Porsche Exclusive" parts legal for stock. Porsche is very ambiguous about what all is included under that label, it could almost mean anything because as long as someone pays Porsche enough they will do just about anything under that label.
One proposal was to add a rule so no option accessories could be used not allowed to be changed under other street class rules. I would be in favor of that. |

Good luck with that. It's too wide spread with almost all the Miatas in ES with R package conversions and Hard S packages, HS/DS Minis with JCW suspension parts, and Corvettes with Z51 packages.

Package conversion isn't really the same thing. I think it will have traction to be honest and after the whole Porsche Exclusive thing in the April Fastrack.

When I go to the Scion site, it gives me the option of building a 2014 or a 2015. The TRD Springs and Bars are available for both years. The one interesting thing is if I select the Cold Air Intake, a pop-up says that it is a Dealer installed option. I have a 2013, so I might be SOL anyway. ![]() Mike |

Does any one have any additional methods of proof we can use. It would be great to have something beyond the port order form to show at national level events. There's just so many 86 drivers in the San Diego area.

That makes it look like it's only a 2015 option or am I wrong? |

I dunno guys. Do we actually want this? If the springs are legal then aren't the TRD 18 7.5J +35 offset wheels legal, and the upsize rear sway bar legal? That would make a monstrous Hotchkis bar work a lot better too...
And then the FRS seems like a serious overdog in CS... A situation that wouldn't last long just based on the unbalance between it and the BRZ. That said, I'm going to go buy all that and a short shifter on Monday. I knew buying a brand new car was worth it...

If FRS owners get TRD springs then why can't BRZ owners get STI springs?
On another note, can we shave down the bumpstops in CS? |
