OK. I have read this from other people, but after swapping fluids yesterday seriously wtf is going on in our rear diff? I mean I expected some metal shavings but all the goop/gunk on the drain plug was crazy. Lol.

On another note why did everyone choose the 75w90 gear 300? I am curious because I don't believe it is rated for LSD (I figured this after I did my swap, so I am running it to.) Anyone look into running the 90PA? Its what the sti/wrx folks used versus the 75w90.

Haven't seen in myself (planning on swapping fluid soon) but I'm not too surprised, most of that metal is from the diff gears wearing in, sharp edges smoothing out, etc. I wouldn't expect that much on a second change after a longer time.

I've wondered this aswell. Looking around, everybody seems to be using the motul 75w90 for both tranny and diff, but I remember running into a diff (lsd) specific fluid. Read somebody mention that its not as crucial since our diffs are torsens. I have no clue

Yes, the drain bolts are magnetic and were very dirty with shavings and gunk build up. Took the rag and pb blaster to them before reinserting them. Piece of mind, they are cleaned and marked (by me) for future reference.

It works for our cars per the DIYs posted. I was more satisfied replacing the liquids with stuff people are using vs spending another year reading the arguments of brands, weights, metallurgy, and costs. But that's just me.

yeah from the limited reading I did, the LS variant oil is unnecessary for our cars.

hey I am probably going to finally pull the trigger and buy a Mac or Macbook Pro... my main impetus is to be better equipped to do video editing (GoPro and stuff from our drives). Suggestions on which machine is best? iMac, MBP? probably not the Air... I hate small screens and will need some CPU power LOL.

Well if you're choosing between an iMac and MacBook Pro.. The question is do you want a desktop or something portable like a laptop...

probably a desktop... I don't really use laptops and when I do, I always want to attach monitors, mice, etc. Hate using small screens and touchpads etc. I do a lot of messing around with graphics, photos, video. But I do understand the advantages of having a laptop/mobility.

I've had PCs for years but am slowly gravitating towards Apple. Not really feeling the new direction Windows is going to (and I'm not hardcore enough to be running Linux ... tried Ubuntu for a while and gave it up). I will still hang on to my PC for gaming though.

^I'm with Clip on this one, I've used both (for general use, but minimal amateur video editing though) and although I was happy with the macs (I had a mb pro) I could never justify it for the price. If you are a little tech savy (which I'm pretty sure you are) get yourself a less expensive PC and a good graphics card, large SSD and some good vid editing software with the money you save.

Looking good. Can you post a pic of the real car too? Tempting to paint my Tamiya body now.

I have a buddy that uses a build your own PC website at good prices if you want some guidance on a good gaming/vid editing build. If you don't mind a true full sized tower that is

And thanks for the info on the diffs. I was going off what every was using also. I figure it must be a torsen versus mechanical thing. I may ask/look around the auto x forum for a concrete answer and report back
