I agree. My point was directed at the folks that keep chiming in with "They said it's not hurting anything so give it a rest and stop whining already!"

I want this fixed.

On my 10 mile commute home engine was awfully quiet and the creaks couldn't be heard. Then I rolled up my window and listed to the awful rattles. On a short drive w/the engine cool, the noise level is tolerable. I made an appointment w/my dealer Friday, I'm gonna drive the engine heat UP to make it nice and loud for the techs to hear.

Just heard it for the first time today with 369 miles. Pulled into the garage with the windows down and there it was. Wasn't too loud and was coming and going as it sat there idling. We shall see if it gets worse.

Maybe and maybe not...

Not every sound a engine makes means it will cause problems down the line twi quick examples are valves and direct injection pump clicking.

Some mechanical components are like that, they make an annoying sound, but does not mean it is not working properly or it will break any time soon.

Pretty sure it's illegal to sell anything with less than 10% ethanol here, thanks to corn industry subsidies and lobbying, and it's going to become 15% in 2014 It has already ruined all the fuel lines in our boats. The government here is completely useless.

Why don't one of you start a poll with gasoline types? Since there are still quite a few people who say they don't have the chirp yet, perhaps the gas(brand) they use is the trick?

Good luck finding ethanol free gas...it's available, but hard to find in my experience. 10% is summer blend; I believer winter blend is even higher.

Again, if gasoline in the U.S. is manufactured to a government, or even an industry, standard, then all brands should be the same, or close enough. No one band should produce a major chirp. At least, this is what I'm thinking.

Chevron and Shell are pretty damn good gasolines. Exxon-Mobile is good, too. If you're getting your fill-ups off the truck that just came up from Tijuana, then that may be another story.

10% Ethanol is the maximum by law, 5% is the minimum. The laws vary by state so it really depends. For example, they sell ethanol free gasoline in Iowa.

If you're wondering what the big difference between North American Gasoline and Japanese, Ethanol is the only one I can think of. I'm pretty sure the octanes are about the same and US has top tier fuel that meets the detergent requirements recommended by auto makers. Europe has Ethanol too so BMW complaining about "eco crap" in US and Canadian fuel is laughable since they do exactly the same thing in Germany. Maybe it's just a bad batch of o-rings?

Can you guys with the crickets smell fuel in the engine bay?

Is it really inconsequential? I don't know anything about engines! This is my first car ever. I decided to ask the question to be safe than sorry. I'm sorry if it annoyed you.
