You don't speak for everyone. Lots of people on this forum are fans of cars like the Mustang. A good amount of us own cars like the Mustang. This is a forum for the twins but not restricted to the twins.

Mine was the lack of visibility lol. Always liked the Camaro but I just don't like the visibility inside of one.

Speaking as someone who now lives in the Detroit metro area where EVERYONE drives something from the big three, if you haven't checked them out in recent years you owe it to yourself to try to do so with an open mind.

I haven't driven an American car personally since my first car which was a full sized pickup, but I have ridden in and driven around in some late model mustangs and focuses lately and I have to say the interior design and fit and finish is largely very impressive. A far cry from the dark ages. And to be honest, as much as I love my FR-S, the interior squeaks and rattles and after approximately 8 months the paint is in worse shape than a civic I drove for 8 years. I have to scrape some surface rust off the fender and get some touch up on it before that becomes a nightmare.

While I think the FR-S is more fun and engaging to drive, if I was looking for a relatively inexpensive track monster I'd be all over a Mustang. The $ to performance ratio on those cars is astounding if you can learn to tame them a bit. The fact that the big three, Ford in particular, have made such an impressive turnaround, the fact that the new Mustang looks to have shed some weight and gained some new styling and power plant options and the fact that Ford has had some recent killer cars like the ST has me excited to see where they are headed. Might still not be the car for me, but it should be an impressive machine. Just my 2 cents.

Friend at my old job just picked up an ST and had it tuned. Dude is in absolute love with the thing and if I had to pick one person to hate Ford or any domestic manufacturer forever it would have been him. Was a big VW guy but after test driving the ST his mind was made up.

If you don't mind, what was your OTD cost, LSx? I've been a huge fan of the new 5.0 mustang.

I almost bought the mustang 5.0 with the track pack. Glad to hear the tranny is not a big issue.

Still can't play music from my phone nor hear the gps through the stereo. For the past 15 years, I've heard that the American car companies are ready to play with the big boys. That's just not the case. The CTS was supposed to be the best, but a gen 1 CTS v rattles like a paint can after 50k miles. I have no faith in American cars at the moment. I do own one, a 92 GMC Safari with 160k miles. Course it's on its second transmission, the interior is disgusting, and the thing sometimes doesn't start. The steering pulls to the right and it will take a grand of suspension work to fix the alignment. Still, it carries a lot.

To be fair, I'd totally buy a Tesla.

I had a Navigator (early 2000's) that was grossly expensive. It hit 185k before i was t-boned. Truck took the hit well but was totaled.
However that truck was in bad shape overall. Interior wearing away, the motor was in a constant state of needed repair. Suspension was also mostly in need. Seriously this truck was a money pit!
I replaced it with a Pathfinder ('06) which now has 125k miles and still looks new inside and out! has had FEW repairs and nothing major. Its obvious that this truck will go 250k miles easily and STILL look and work well with little repair investment.
my dad was a MB owner for many years, C and CLK class cars. He recently leased a CTS and just the other day leased a new CTS-4. He thinks the Cadillac is far inferior to the Mercedes Cars but likes the short (2-year) lease deals they throw at him! He'd NEVER buy one but hed deff buy a MB or a Lexus!

The two things I really appreciate about the mustang is the large back seat and the raw speed. My buddy got a Boss recently, and that thing is downright scary at times with the Sport Key.

Indeed he did. I'm only 5"4, so it was surprisingly comfortable for me. But in the FR-S when I'm driving there's still no leg room in the back.

Great choice. Unfortunately due to the high CO2 emissions that very same Mustang costs $120.000 over here so it's not an option.

It's amazing how much leasing makes sense on more expensive cars, and triply so when you can write it off. Still, I'm in agreement that the American cars just aren't there. Shamefully, I am a former dodge neon owner. Sagging headliner and no AC at 55k miles. Rock on!

Regarding the Focus... Sync reminds me every single damned time bluetooth connects that my 911 locater is off. The engine is gutless. The sensor headlights don't turn on with the wipers and don't turn on until long after they should, making them useless. The sync button labels on screen don't match actions I want to take. For instance, to make a call, the button says send. What?
