Me (although I didn't actually write it)...its clever...and it has connotations to drunken slur...it had me laughing from the start.

Lets face it 7.3 secs is way slow...but WSJ got a 6.0 secs. Maybe something was wrong with the car that inside line tested. They are suppose to throw it up on the dyno later, so we will see.

Like i told people before the car was going to be in the low to mid 6 secs range. And it is. That is fast enough...somebody will get a upper 5 secs run too...

And all these cars tested so far are pre-production units.

0 to 60 times are all over the place for this car...from 6.0 secs to 7.3 secs...it needs to average closer to 6.0...and i think it will. That is fast enough.

I think you are a little too optimistic regarding a high 5 sec on a stock car.

Seriously, some of you young dudes talking this way have me worried about the insurance rates on this car. I have to agree with others that I'm really hoping the slow 0-60 time attracts a more mature buyer to these cars. In fact I'm starting to think it should have been even slower.

What does the soccer mom with two kids in the back seat driving aggressively have to do with you? Doesn't matter if you are driving a Lambo or a Miata, the road is not some giant competition where people are out to embarrass one another.

This is not a car to stroke your ego by flooring the gas and beating other people. It's a car for pure driving enjoyment.

I would be willing to bet that the WSJ did not do a 0-60 run. They are simply regurgitating Subaru speak from pre-release literature. "0-60 times in the sixes". That could be 6.01 or 6.99.

Everyone should just chose the best number for each catagory from each source and then call the car a supercar! I see people quoting .92G from one article. 6.0 0-60 from another. 14.9 1/4 mile from another. Weight of 2700lbs (or less) from another. Every test use slighrly different criteria. Motor Trend, for ecample, does a 3 foot rollout because if you drop the clutch at 5500RPM and fry the rear tires like they described the car is going to take several feet (and tenths) to build any forward momentum.

Every single reviewer loves the car. That is the only number you should be concerned with. Well, that and the price. If you want the car and can afford the car then buy the car. To hell with any other numbers.

That's where we should be careful; wasn't the RX-8 universally praised pre-release? Look at what happened to it..

I have never felt the need or desire to race someone from a stoplight, regardless of what I was driving or they were driving.

The fact is, any decent driver understands that the streets are in no way, shape or form the place to test your driving skills or the limits of your auto.

I agree, we should be careful. but much of the anger from the rx8 is due to the rotary and fuel and oil consumption. Today its still a great performance car.

Maybe we can consider the Zx6 a more complete and reliable version of the rx8?

It's essentially an RX8 if you compare them on paper.

Eh, I think of the BRZ as more of a lightweight than the RX8. The RX8 had the quirky back doors and was a bit heavier, at around 3,000 lbs. I always thought that car was underpowered. I think the BRZ will be different because it's significantly lighter, and doesn't have as high of a redline. The RX8 was an absolute dog until 7k.

The BRZ has a much more usable powerband and is more lean than an RX8.

Just my 2 cents.
