I haven't even begun to get near peak interest yet. That will be when I sit in it and drive the FR-S/BRZ. I have however begun to lose interest in my 99 Corolla. Looking forward to something I hope harkens back to my 87 Supra. Although I know the Boxer 4 will be a different character than the I-6 of the Supra. Less torque but then again about 500 lbs. less on the curb weight also. Oh the joys of anticipation
... that's much better than the agony of waiting.

Sure if you're in the market for a used car. I would be very hesitant to by any of thoes cars used not knowing how the 18 year old who owned it probably treated it.

Supras, I know nothing about other than they're fap material for the JDM kiddies. Bottom line: Yes, you can get more performance for $25k, especially once you start shopping used (Vette, M3, Evo, STI, etc). Everything is a trade off, though. I'm not saying nothing compares, but claiming you can own some of these twin turbo beasts for the price of an FRS is absurd. |

Like it was said earlier, 911s vettes and m3s are great cars, but maintenance is going to rape you, unless you happen to be a good mechanic yourself....
Look up a transmission for a dsg m3....lol game over....clutch job in a 911? haha...

Good question.
I just checked, the cheapest 09+ on autotrader has 66,000 miles and has an asking price of $52,900. A far cry from 40k. Average prices were in the high 60s to low 70s.

Why would anybody buy the STi now when the next generation is less than a year away...oh wait...they did not want to wait...I get it no patience.
We only got a few months to go folks. The FR-S/BRZ is almost here...there is no way scion and Subaru is going to price the cars in the USA crazy expensive...we will all be happy...less than 30 days folks! |

+1 And I think waiting is half the fun. I remember waiting for the 2010 Camaro which I had a deposit on for over a year and was waiting since the '06 concept. But, that car did not live up to the hype for me too heavy and not fun to drive. The ZL1 will be awesome though.

I bought a 2000 model year Celica GTS in the fall of 1999 when they first came out. It was a loaded 6 speed and with a little negotiation I managed to get it for just 20k. I don't remember the exact amount but I think that the window sticker price was only 21something. Its the first new car that I ever purchased and its earned a permanant place in my garage. 180 hp and just under 2,500 curb weight! I really hope that you are incorrect in your assumption that the price for the FRS is going be really high. Its going to be hard for me to justify purchasing this car if the price ends up being 28-29k. I'm still optimistically hoping for a base price of 22k for the FRS and 24k for the BRZ.

Yes, I did move on.
I am/was very interested in this car. I own and have owned a couple of Camaro Z28's but, they simply aren't practical or economical cars to use as daily drivers with $4+ gas prices. (not to mention that they don't handle all that well to begin with.) The Toyobaru is exactly the type of car I was looking for. Small, fast, fun, and economical. Instead of waiting for a first year car that would depreciate a bunch I went ahead and bought a 2009 GTI and saved myself around $8000. The GTI has enough fun factor to hold me over for a few years until there are some BRZ's on the "used" market - or until a "hot" version is released. Another thing is that there is already an established after market for performance mods on the very refined 2.0L turbo workhorse for vw. I'll let everyone else discover the mechanical issues for the new boxer engine. |

Just wondering does moving from a FRS to BRZ count as moving on?
