PS MRLS has a crazy db limit. I was getting black flagged back when I had a muffler delete + stock everything else. Are you putting the muffler back on now that you have a UEL?
Haha yeah, I thought they were supposed to be bolt on superchargers though! Lol.

And I think I might have to run the stock muffler because of the header, yeah. Or if I get my muffler delete with a 5" muffler from Nameless soon enough (ordered about a week ago) depending on how loud that is, I might run that. What are you gonna do now that you have UELs too?

I'm with you on this. So many times I've wanted to run Laguna and so many times I couldn't because of the db rule. And the one chance I had with a stock car, is now no longer stock. Bummer.

MRLS is ran by a non-profit org therefore minimal (if any) taxes are paid. The very limited open-db days that they do have (pro events) and limited private days (slight raise in db levels) still does compare to the amount of revenue the city/county makes via tourism. Imagine if the city became a race haven...they'd lose a ton of $$$ from visitors looking for that quiet, serene, beach environment. Race fuel smell in the air, the resonating noises of straight pipes, not to mention Canary Row will flood with fart cans and boom boxes. That'll be like Lighting McQueen inviting all his homies to Radiator Springs everyday.

Let's not blame the dozen or so residents directly affected by the noise. Instead put pressure on the surrounding cities/counties whose opting out on a little more income just by raising that db rule a couple clicks. Other tracks have db rules too but they don't have some car-hater working that booth. They supply him with plush headphones and a stack of DVDs for the day.

My $0.02.

Idk dude, i live in Marina which is like 10 minutes away from Laguna seca. Most of the tourism spots are either in fishermans warf in Monterey, PG, or in carmel down near the beaches/highway 1. Most of those are fairly far away from any noise pollution comming from Laguna seca. I will say this though, there is a group called the "Highway 68 Coalition group" and seriously, they are a bunch of hippie fucks. Mr weaver who is their president threatened to sue Laguna Seca if they didn't lower their DB to 90. So literally Laguna seca DB is being controlled by a group of whiny bitches that complain about noise.

That said, if there is an instructor available for Nov 3 @MRLS, or if you know an instructor with credentials, please PM me. I will give up my paid spot to that instructor (forward your credentials to NCRC) so that my friend can have the experience.

TIA!

And the packets should be mailed out soon.
I'm not quite clear what you are proposing here. If you are giving up your spot to a female BRZ owner so she can have the experience then how are you also giving up your spot to an instructor?

I may be interested in instructing depending on what you are proposing. I've not instructed at the track before but I have a good sampling of track experience (multiple times at MRLS/other tracks and semi regular ncrc chrono series participant) and I train new hires at work (IT) so I've been thinking about getting into track instructing... this may be an opportunity to do so.

Well I don't know who to blame, but I agree that the DB limit is ridiculous. Especially at such a legendary track like MRLS. I don't know how anyone passes 90db.

As it stands my exhaust won't light up the sound meter. Did my exhaust seem loud to you? Minus the previous header's exhuast leak, the exhaust is actually quiet like stock below 3k and moderately louder than stock above 3k.

With the UEL, I am finding I want to remove one of the 2 resonators (if not both) I have in the mid pipe because it is too quiet. I can't hear any rumble...

As for ways to beat the DB limit:

I've seen some aftermarket exhausts pass at MRLS... I have a psuedo-aftermarket exhaust in my S2k which consists of OEM piping and resonator w/ Magnaflow cans welded on. I wanted something with better flow, sound, and weight savings and that would still pass MRLS and it does the job.

I've also seen exhausts like Apex'i World Sport, Fujitsubo, and T1R dual pass. The key seems to be a good resonator along with the mufflers.

I've been thinking of going the turnout route as well by making a "convertible" muffler. I bought some v-band clamps that would allow me to switch from the magnaflow cans I have right now to a custom straight pipe turn out angled to the left for MRLS and then back to magnaflow when I leave the track.

One more thing, even if you have an after market exhaust you can still technically get around the meatball flag they'll give you for sound. It's common knowledge that the decibel meter is on the outside right after turn 5. Wait to get back on the throttle a lil bit after the turn 5 exit and you should be able to pass and run the whole rest of the track w/o getting meatballed.

@AyJay, thanks for all your help! Glad you can provide assistance. I have in-laws in Fairfield that we frequent BUT I usually spend my entire time visiting at Driven. One of these days, let's grab coffee?

^ No problem and thank you for the opportunity to participate. Coffee sometime sounds great

Looking forward to meeting more of you like minded FR-S/BRZ owners out at the track.
