After hours and hours if tuning theses motors turbo and no turbo I've got a understanding of what can and cannot be done.
11.8 it good on pumpgas forced induction. |

Agreed, .80 lambda on pump fuel is plenty safe IMO. People remember, timing is what kills motors. . .

Running lean makes for hotter engine temps. This increase in temp leads to what is known commonly as "knock" or for the "technical guru's".... preignition. Knock leads to increased cylinder pressures and heat. Knock leads to detrimental and at time catastrophic damage like cracking/melting a piston and bearing damage. You run too lean and what happens is you have an unexpected explosion in your combustion chamber, the force generated by that explosion has to go somewhere and that somewhere usually goes to the desctruction of rods, putting stress on rod bolts. either you melt shit, or shoot something through the side of the block Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

I tend to tune at 10.7- 11.2 on my turbo motor's but I have sustained 15psi boost loads with almost no cool down for hours on end some time's 10 hours. My motors seem to hold up quite well.
Now that being said John would not have a good Rep blowing up motors I'm not too worried. |

Just hypothetical; have you zeroed in the peak-torque AFR across the RPM band? I know that doesn't entertain for knock counts, EGT, or long term reliability, I'm more interested in deducing BSFC. I understand that tailoring a finished tune for longevity obviously goes beyond that narrow scope. Thanks.

Walking the fine line between proving competence and giving away IP to competitors.
Care to elaborate on when we'll see the fruits of your other boosted tuning results? Specifically the Innovative twin-screw kit.

so for some reason this is my favorite so far. I know john does goody work, and he works with everyone. but what are your thoughts on vortech vs innovate? I'm really torn! I love the reliablity of vortech but the innovate just looks so awesome/ has so much potential.... thoughts?
