Okay then the G37 and the 370Z.

G37 = high 13s - $38k - 4 seats
370Z = low 13s - $32k - 2 seats
GC 3.8 = mid 13s - $27k - 4 seats (no telling what the 2013 model will offer)

Nothing about those numbers makes me feel like the GC is blown away by either the G37 or 370Z. The 370Z is a little faster (as compared to the 2012 GC), but it's $5k more and doesn't have rear seats.

I highly admire Hyundai for pushing the GC like they have. They are stepping it up a notch, and I think that rocks. They are going after what many people want, at a good price. Things like "handling characteristics" and looks are up to the individual buyer. But if it's cheaper, it's cheaper, if it's faster, it's faster.

It is what it is

Instead of us all waiting and looking towards Toyota to "bring back a sports car" - look at what Hyundai is doing, they're creating a legacy of their own and it's happening right in front of us.

Even if I tried, I could not dislike the GC. I just can't. It offers too much bang for the buck, and the new one looks like it's going to be even better.

NOT putting the FR-S out, we just don't know enough about it yet - if it's a good deal, it's a good deal - To me, the GC is a great deal.

Sorry sir, I couldn't comprehend the ugliness of the car, so I made mistake. Corrected.

Are you comparing straightline performance?
What about the look?
Material used in the car?
Chassis rigidity?
Feature?
Technology?
braking distance?
and so on?
Do we always have to compare the car by how good it can do in a straight line? Hp doesn't add value to the car as much others like material, technology, and feature.

Why are we comparing 1/4 times? G37 and 370Z wipes the floor with the GC in every category.

Dark ^ so much hate. It is a gen-u-ine sports coupe, with creditable performance in a world where worthy competition is a welcome addition to the fray. No one maker has a lock on making good cars, and the car is far from ugly, unless you are just angry that there IS decent competiton?

Why not be glad, and embrace it for what it is .. i.e. "not THAT ugly", for example?

No one said Hyundai shouldn't build GC. "Ugly" is just one's opinion. If that thing makes you think it's "nice looking", nobody is gonna get offended. We just express opinions, no?

I don't mind the looks of the exterior so much. I think it'd grow on me. The interior, on the other hand, needs a lot of work. And it definitely could go on a diet.

Also, there has to be some residual negative sentiment about the Hyundai name brand floating around. Some (not saying all) people might still just hate the brand name and call anything that comes out of Hyundai as ugly. Just a thought.

I'm Korean, but I wouldn't buy any Hyundai as they are right now. They're on the right track though.

I agree, people get very up tight and strung out when it comes to this car. It's nice, and it's competitive. I think that shakes people up a bit.

Of course there are other variables.

And out of many of those you listed above, the GC performs fairly well at. The true "value" of the car is up to the buyer, so whether I want a fancy interior or more hp is my decision. The price of what it's worth is up to the dealer.

Since when did a GC run anything 13? Last I checked they are 14sec cars.
