I asked about ride height and got told "low ride heights are just for looks" more or less and this guy asks and gets an extensive explanation of the trade offs involved when chosing ride heights. I really need to learn how to articulate what I am trying to ask.

I was responding to "But those recommended height pictures are so sad."

Maybe I misinterpreted that but it sounds like he is disappointed that it can not go lower. Folks can and will lower their cars on Xidas beyond what we recommend. When and if they report that it doesn't handle as well as they had hoped, we will say "yup".

I get that there will be a group of 86 owners that say "Xidas can't go low enough". We're ok with that. The other group of 86 owners with Xidas on their car will be very happy with the new capabilities of the car. I call them superpowers

But yes, to answer your question more specifically, we have rational reasons for recommending certain ride heights based on direct measurements and testing. It isn't mysticism or superstition. Each platform is different and presents its own limitations. We start with a clean sheet and try to engineer a total solution that generates the car with the best performance envelope. If that means slammed, so be it. If means not so slammed, so be it.

Our Miata parts are exclusively on our Supermiata.com site. The BGK for the Miata contains a different component list than what we will do for the 86 so I don't know how much that will help you.

Sorry if you guys are misreading me, just trying to offer answers with sufficient detail. I'm not upset or angry. But my tone can be abrupt and didactic sometimes. That's just how I talk.

The question that started the confusion seems to be asking why we are not recommending lower ride heights for the Xidas.

On one side I hope to have offered sufficient explanation, a few times I suppose.

On the other side I asked this question of you, why is it that you feel you need or want a lower ride height?

Not sitting here across a table from you I have to make assumptions. One is that some thinks it simply looks better lower. The other is that someone might feel that it would handle better if it were lower. Regarding the cosmetics, well I can't comment on that. I get that some people like a lower look but if it doesn't make the car faster or ride better, we simply won't recommend it.

Hopefully my answers have been clear enough to avoid any confusion.

I'm here to answer questions. I like filling in the blanks. I love doing the r&d and developing the products. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I am not one for drama. I do not patronize or make extra efforts to sugar coat things. I tend to be succint. Most of the people that just want the hard facts appreciate that directness.

Occasionally someone get their feathers ruffled by my tone. All I can do is apologize and move on.

Again sorry for whatever I have done to whoever might have been offended or otherwise bothered by the way I explain things.

Meanwhile we're thinking the main and helper springs will be orange and gray. Orange is worth 10whp.

You may want to go back and reread what you’ve written. You posts are condescending and rude at times and you pick and choose what you want to answer and when. You already know this though.

I am a bit disappointed I won’t be doing business with you. Sounds like a great product and you seem like a wealth of knowledge. Unfortunately not all are good at passing their knowledge down the line.

I personally disagree with this. I don't see the OP's responses as rude, but rather just overwhelmingly thorough.

I think the OP is trying, to the best of their abilities, to re-answer a series of questions (and clear up a series of misconceptions) that ACTUAL performance part development/manufacturing companies have been answering/clearing up for decades. It's hard for some people to hear that their car's performance won't be optimized if they drop their springs to their "ideal height"... or that their pod filter actually lost them horsepower... or that their fancy "aero package" has negligible effect. But that does not mean that the OP isn't within their right to tell them so - and in no uncertain terms. I, for one, appreciate the candor, directness, and commitment to fact - not just in this specific example, but in general.
