Same with getting something for my dad. He just buys ANYTHING he wants. So it is hard to get him presents.

Got him a custom leatherman a few years ago. Ended up being the best thing I ever got him. Trying to follow that up is impossible...

It is damascus steel and 24k gold. The two leatherman blades have been replaced, and the rest coated. The handles are already titanium from leatherman. The company out of Texas (still all made in USA) gives a Lifetime warranty on them, so not a downgrade from owning an unmodified leatherman.
