Hi guys, I have a question for those of us that connect the dashlinq to the internet via their iphone, using the iphone hotspot.

Has anybody tried getting a usb hotspot instead and use a sim card with it ? If so, what did you buy ? Looking to buy one so that i have a hotspot ready at all times, without having to start it each time i enter my car

Shipping from me to you would likely be hell, but if you're interested send me a PM.

I have one of these. Honestly it's junk

1. The buttons eventually barely respons. The prev / next track hard buttons need to be MASHED.

2. The screen is horribly non responsive. I don't know if this is supposed to be capacatative or resistive but anything less than a hard stab with a finger tip or finger nail won't yield a response half the time

3. The USB harness plug on the back fits poorly so the USB randomly disconnects

4. It's a beaten, trimmed down version of Android. There's many apps you can't even download

5. The Bluetooth profile is either very restrictive or very old. You can't connect a lot of devices.

I'm super unhappy with this product.

I've read about the joying but still wary of all the new unheard-of brands. . . everyone's pretty satisfied with them so far?

I like mine a lot. it's not perfect by any means and limited in power/memory, but its functionality totally eclipses the stock unit.

I can run poweramp, google maps, and OBDlink smoothly at the same time. That's enough for me.

Updates

Hey guys,
I know this is somewhat of an old thread but figured I would try anyway.

I have been trying to update my headunit for 5 hours today. Looked through all the pages and tried all of the updates. Nothing seems to work. It just restarts and nothing changes. The only update I managed to put through is the MCU (latest version). I want to update to the latest firmware (released 3/18/15).

I tried formatting sd card and then putting the update folder on there, but it doesnt do anything (its a 32gb card, works because i was using it before for music in the same headunit). I tried moving from usb to sd card and then updating, same thing. I have no idea why it wont update.

If someone can help, please let know. Thank You

during Bluetooth playback the audio cut out. I have rest to factory multiple times. Tried playing off sd card. No audio from anything. No speakers producing sound...bout from amp in radio or either amp in trunk. Any ideas guys? Figure contacting ca-FI will be useless since I bought so long ago.
