I like the FT86II. I like the FR-S concept, but I realize that one isn't a realistic production model.

I'm surprised to hear you say that. I thought the mk1 looked sophisticated and classy, the frs looked muscular and exotic. The mkII looked like they gave the mkI and some 90's model spaceship parts to a 5-year old and asked him to glue them where he wanted. the rear and taillights looked like after market pieces of plastic from 1984, and who stole the fender vents from my M3...copycat moves cheapen the experience. Not to mention the rims were the ugliest of the 3 and the lines that had so elegantly flowed and slimmed the sides of both the mkI and frs were slaughtered in the mkII even overlapping at what use to be a sexy hip over the rear tire(on the mkI). Too many good ideas to go with sloppy after-thought designs like that. I really hope they don't put the fender vents in, or I won't take a second look at it come production time.

If I could have an MK1 over the production model, I totally would. That one is the most attractive IMO.

If they made front half of mk1 and and rear half of mk3, I'm totally all over it!

I really think Road & Track did a great job on the picture of what they got from the spy shot...I'm thinking the production model could really come out to look like this. |

Looks awesome, but I'll pass on the wing. I'm just worried about what colors Scion will offer. If I don't like any of the other ones, I'll get another pearl white car, but if the "code red" is an RS1.0, I might consider it.

The MkII was officially announced to be 95% of what the production model will look like. At that point, Toyota likely R&D'd the aerodynamics out of the MkI and started to engineer the tooling to manufacture the sheetmetal. The 2000GT-esque C-pillar (probably the most challenging part to design for manufacturability due to size and complexity of bends) is a prime example of what will be retained because of that.
MkI and MkIII are one-off molds that likely never received aerodynamic analysis and, hence, will not see tooling for manufacturing. The remaining 5% is left for any design changes that wouldn't significantly impact the already established design for manufacturability.
