Is there anything I should do to prep my car before an event? My friend said that before a track day, I should get high performance brake fluid. Does the same thing apply to autox?

If you never done it before you don't really need to do anything because you won't be able to drive at the level that would require extra prep ( brake fluid wouldn't be necessary because you won't be braking at your limit consistently enough to heat it up)

i got 600 miles on mine the day i picked it up. portland > san jose don't worry it will break in... eventually

No need, best prep is to make sure your car is well maintained. The most you would need is a tire gauge and an air pump to pump up your tires (to keep your tires from rolling over them selves during hard cornering). Most of the stuff I bring is for myself, a chair, a book, lots of drinking water and some snacks

I'm planning on going to the event on 2/16/14 at Oakland (listed here), but I don't want to get an SCCA membership just yet and I was planning on using the SCCA weekend membership. Do I have to pre-register for this event? Also, how many weekend memberships do they usually have?

Always easier to preregister to save you the hassle of filling out paper work, etc., but you can always register the morning of the event. The "weekend membership" is more of a fee you pay to participate for that weekend (so no, no need to worry, they don't have a set number of these)

I believe you can get as many as you want. I did autoX for over a year without getting SCCA membership, you justhave to pay a bit extra.

The track was pretty wet as the rain was on and off for the day. Add to the fact that the tarmac seemed to deteriorate as we walked over it with loose marbles just off of the line and it made for a squirrely track. So, my first time AutoX-ing was an adventure.

My fastest lap was 43.1 (with a passenger) in the C Stock class and the tail was sliding around most of the turns. I asked my passenger to sit out the last lap to see if I could better my time and I forgot to turn the nannies off (like an idiot) and lost power coming around several of the turns. I was 1/10th off my fastest so I think I could have gotten closer to @G-Ride but his runs were still a couple of seconds faster than me. Hopefully, next weekend will be dry.
