Nice lap! Still looks like some room for improvement in cornering too!

2010 Dodge Viper ACR bests LFA and sets new track record with a 7:12 lap time while costing 1/4 the price of the LFA.

Well thanks for joining just to let us know that.

While the ACR is pretty much my fav american sports car, it's also crude and bare. Your perspective might be that it's as fast as an LFA for a 1/4 of the price, but the ACR is a beast of a car, and mine is that the LFA with a ton of leather, 14 speakers and All the luxury bits is almost as fast as an ACR around the ring.... without R compound tyres to boot.

Now kindly bugger off, you troll.

Let me start by saying I stopped caring about Ring records a long time ago. Marketing driven competition does little for me.

It doesn't say "not stock" it says, "smart planning."

Nothing about being "prepped by" a local racing team implies that the ACRs in question are not actually stock. Getting set up by a local crew that runs a similarly spec'd car on their home track is just plain smart. The locals know the ideal alignment specs, tire pressures, sway bars settings, damper settings, and wing adjustments that are required to make fast laps.

We do the same thing in autocross--either by going to a test event on the competition surface or by getting help from people that run the surface all the time (tire pressures, dampers, camber all very drastically depending on the age and type of surface). Getting help is always the fastest and best way to improve your times.

So you're saying that the leather and speakers makes the ~300,000 dollars more price tag justifiable? lol.

And to the guy who thought that the car was not stock because it was prepped by a local race team... really? wow.

Well, dont forget the ACR is already compleyely stripped out, with a complete work over of suspension brakes etc etc from the FACTORY produced Viper.... Christ even the front foglights are removed and brake air ducts in their places....... haha

Lets remove everything from the LFA so its a stripped out like the ACR, then do a lap :p

Its a completely different car, and I'd personally much rather spend the money on an LFA nur edt. than on the Viper (Well, if I had that much ) after all, a Viper is just brute force and ignorance with the typical american automotive lack of knowledge :p (Just to stir up a hornets nest )

Developed in house from scratch technology, with almost all unique parts, carbon fiber chassis and extremely limited numbers justify it. Think whatever you want, but people who have actually experienced the LFA are inclined to agree that is is worth every penny of what they ask for it.

Why must you people continually pull down one car to prop up another? Fucking brand enthusiasts... smh

But that's kinda just it. The LFA was developed to give the best driving experience that Toyota/Lexus knows how to deliver. It was put through its paces in extreme conditions (as every car these days really), and then pushed to it's limits on Fuji, the nardo ring, paul riccard and on the nurburgring. It was built to be able to race there, not just put down a fast lap and that was an integral part of it's development (Witness racing in the N24 for 3-4 consecutive years). With the Nurburgring edition, some of the early customers asked for a more track focused version of the LFA, and that is what Lexus delivered. I could be wrong, but I don't think they set out to make the nurburgring edition put down the best lap on the ring possible by tweaking... rather, with the Nur edition, whatever work put into it, is what will go out the door. What you see is what you get (race driver and safety cage excluded). That's why while agree with all the posturing lately the times mean a little less, the lap put down by Iida was quite a bit special in my eyes.

That's kind of the point... the viper with its steel frame and fiberglass body beat out a completely purpose built track car that costs more than your house. I pull down the lfa because it needs to be pulled down (cost wise). For the price the performance you get is comparable to something half the price. It's obviously not a bad car, its a bad car at 400,000.

Oh I forgot you get 14 speakers. My bad.
