The auto is doing fine, absolutely no issues after 800 km so far. Other than a few electronic errors which John sorted out, the car is a blast to drive. And I have been testing it out thoroughly (i.e. driving hard)!

Having said that, the engine does get pretty hot still, and there's that droning noise (from the oil scavenge pump?) and rough "bubbly" idle (around 900 rpm, warmed up).

Perhaps Don or John can chime in on these things.

How do you know the engine gets hot as compared to stock? Burning fuel always makes heat, are you seeing specific indicators of heat like higher engine water temp or ........? Or do you think it smells hotter or you see whisps of smoke?

If you see/smell none of these things then you may be ok

The idle should be smooth as stock, no reason to be otherwise at all

A question here?

Why is the air intake/filter at the hottest point of engine bay?

There is no sense taking in air at 180-200f then compressing and adding at least 150f more before trying to scrub it all off through Intercooler which can only get rid of 65 - 80ish % of whatever temp air came in at. Customers in a hot climate would want to be careful indeed

It's a definite redesign point for next kit iteration AP

Will make turbo compress with less loss (internal leakage due to very hot/thinned air) and provide a lower temp to throttle body allowing either safer tuning or more aggressive tuning. Probably longer turbo life too if truth is known.

In taking hot underhood air is not the go for any true performance arrangement

Sigh, as my build pictures are coming out, more people who have heard the original results of Don's turbo are talking smack. Seems like the only numbers floating around are the original 215whp @3psi that you guys had. I have to keep telling people 285whp @8spi with the basic kit. Let alone a more advanced kit.

Deatchwerks has that covered...emails are going out to shops for beta. If Don hasn't received something yet, shoot me a message and I'll have Chris contact you.

No it just smells hotter. Most of that will go away. New pipes always smell for a while.

The idle on my car is equal to stock. Not that stock idle was perfect.

More advanced kit? The 290hp setting is still the basic kit, we just needed a little more injector to go further.

The filter arrangement is not going to change. If you would like cold air, you can simply upgrade to the cold air version.

The stages thus far lean more towards long term reliability. I've been continuing testing at 10psi and will increase here shortly. We will be adding a fuel injector to the car to move forward.

Might have something to do with the Dyno graph on the first few pages of this thread. maybe he should throw the most recent one up there?

Wouldn't a hood scoop help out with this? Although, I don't think it'd compliment the aesthetics...

I'd think the hood scoop would look like dog!
