Clancy's storylines are probably too believable that nobody knows exactly how he died. Yet the real life Jack Ryan is supposedly still around.

Not crazy believable, but not outside the realm of possibility, either. They're very enjoyable reads (or listens, whatever.) and there's not a whole lot in the books that I've been like "lol ok, that's not possible". Except for laser weapons to defeat nuclear weapons, but maybe that's a thing? I don't know. I'm not up on laser tech.

There hasn't been much about the books I haven't liked. Except for Sally. Fuck her. So god damn annoying in the early books when all she says is "No". You're talking to John fucking Patrick Ryan. Show some god damn respect and use "sir" when you finish a sentence.

Yes the lasers are a thing now. Not sure on range but they can shoot anything they have line of sight to. Just heat em up till they explode. Pretty sure a nuclear weapon wouldn't detonate but the rocket would pop. Google will tell you everything you could possibly want to know about it I'm sure

Gov position I applied for emailed back stating they are reviewing my application and will keep me updated on progress. Happy that I at least got a response back, will be more happier if they call me back for an interview. I just want a chance!

Current place got better from couple weeks back but my heart and will to work is completely gone. I'm only still there for the paycheck and I've been told it looks better to hiring managers if I am still employed.

Yeah they already blow up drones with lazers and have them mounted on Navy ships and such. (Remember when you have a nuclear powered boat or modified jet engines even you can make a shit ton of electrcity)

I have come to the conclusion that I am no longer even going to attempt to help answer questions to guys that ask basic mod questions. They ask, only give part of the story and then argue with everything anybody says. Just not worth it.

You think that going to a government job is a way to avoid incompetent middle management, bad policies and poor working conditions? You have a surprise in store.

Wouldn't a Tesla Death Ray particle beam weapon be more badass?

They have trialed them on one ship yes, They are not yet an operational weapon and are not supposed to be for another 5 years. We know that "5 years" in military time means they may have them operational in 10 or 12 and they will cost about 1,000 time what was budgeted. Other than as weapons guidance systems lasers are a long way from being part of the standard arsenal.

Oh and there is no such thing as a nuclear powered "boat".
