Hi guys,
I have been lurking on this website since... oh gosh... Feb this year ( ). Time flies. Anyway, I vacillated between the BRZ and the FR-S on many factors (suspension differences, price, interior, front bumper, spoiler) and finally pulled the trigger on a dark gray BRZ LTD Manual last week after a solid search of 3 months for the right car (which in my mind was either a manual Dark Gray BRZ LTD or an Asphalt FR-S). I ended up finding a dark gray LTD Manual in NJ and within a week, negotiated them down from a $2000 markup, arranged financing and insurance, picked up the car, drove to Rutgers (Alma Mater), showed the car to my friends (not really car nuts) who loved the design and the color , and drove back home that night to MI with my gf. Unfortunately, I had to park it and grab a flight for work, so, I didn't really have time to sink in that I had found my dream car after waiting +1 year and debating between BRZ/FR-S/Miata/S2000/E46M3/Cayman (handling being the paramount factor). ![]() So, I got back home today and immediately threw the luggage in the house and grabbed the keys for some TLC. Without further ado, here's my car. ![]() If you are or will happen to be in the South West MI area, just give me a holla. See you at a AutoX soon. (Sorry for the massive pic, don't know how to resize) |

New (old) guy here. Sixty three year old auto/moto enthusiast, just put deposit down on FR-S in Raleigh, NC. I plan to keep an eye on the issues forum and was assured at any time I could get my deposit back. I've done this first year dance a few times, and it can be painful, so continuing test drives, and I'm really impressed with the Focus ST. I've owned many autos and motorcycles over the years, and just sold a '10 Golf TDi to get the FR-S. Probably my favorite car ever was an '87 Alfa Milano 3.0, but currently enjoying my '87 911. I'm hoping the FR-S will be everything I've read it is, and I did enjoy the test drive, and was instantly hooked. Anyway, just wanted to weigh in.

I got my silver FRS (Argento to be exact) about a 2 weeks ago, its a 6-speed manual and so far its stock obviously but I have a few plans for it, though the only things I have ordered so far are JDM clear side markers and Toyota emblems from the GT86.
Next up are little things like HIDs and LED turn signals, and then I'm going to red out the tailights which will happen really soon. Then within a month or so I will get rims and coilovers but I am kind of undecided on which wheels to get. So far I'm leaning toward 18" Work Emotion XD9's but I am not sure how the matte grey wheels will match the silver paint because I have never seen the rims in real life and in pictures they look a little darker. Then shortly after that will come an exaust and then hopefuly within about a year or two I will get a turbo kit. (most likely Greddy) I dont have any good pics yet but ill post the ones I have. (The white tC in the pic is my little brothers) ![]() ![]() ![]()

Mike
Hi to all on here-bought my FR-S 2013 Oct 5th 2012 AND I too am having the same 0019 code, don't like the horror stories I'm hearing here. Dealership is playing dumb on this also. I am going to do what I ALWAYS do when I get dealership BS, write the CEO of Toyota/Scion + Quality Control CEO and get THEM to act-I suggest that everyone here do the same, because as we all know "stuff" flows down hill...

Hey everyone- Just waiting for my silver automatic to come in. Should be this month some time. Got a call from the dealership yesterday saying they found one that was in the "build" status. I'm sure most of y'all have manuals, but don't make fun! Lol- I just do not have any desire to have a manual! Anyway, I bought a gray 2012 Toyota Tacoma TSS in February, and while I was waiting at the dealership to have the 10,000 mile maintenance done, I noticed a black FR-S (pre-sold), and fell in love. I had never seen one before, and expected to see a $40k+ sticker price. So needless to say I was pretty stoked to see mid 20's!
How much did the dealership come off of sticker price for you guys? I figured since they know I want this car enough to wait a month, it kinda alters the negotiation process... |
