That's interesting. I'm thinking just a resonator delete with a high flow muffler and nice tips.

How would they ever know if I told them the muffler is actually further back in the under carriage . But I have passed multiple cops and they haven't done anything, it's not super loud anyways so we should be good. If not 100$ isn't bad, still won't cost nearly as much as an exhaust right now!

Why not just run a proper exhaust? Less headache then lying.

cost aside, there are definitive sound and power benefits to be had from a proper, designed for the motor dyno tested system, that cutting here and pasting there may not yield.

so long as we dont forget the difference between sounding like you have a great exhaust system on your car, and having a great exhaust system on your car.

I'd suggest save and wait till someone offers one used. I'm looking into some other systems from other vendors, and my headerback may be for sale in the coming weeks.

as SEMA winds up, more folks will have used stuff for sale.

If you want some inside info, there is a local shop in PHX developing a very cost effective exhaust for this car, but its not out yet and not sure if I can post it, but if you wanna know sent me a PM-hold your horses and you may be very happy you waited.

Quoted for right-ness. There's a lot that goes into GOOD exhaust development (pulse-mapping, flow patterns, heat transfer) so just lopping a chunk off of the exhaust sometimes sounds great (i say sometimes because other cars sound like shit with no mufflers) but on an NA motor, backpressure and the resulting vacuum plays a large role in engine performance. Reducing restriction is one thing, but take too much off and you have to tune the motor to suit the new system. its a balancing act.

No, I'm not saying the stock system is the end-all be-all of exhaust, but many of the good aftermarket systems reduce weight but still manage to maintain similar, or improved, exhaust gas flow dynamics.

stepping off my soap-box now.

Yes there are aftermarket exhaust systems out there that do improve performance. But there is not a single system that I have heard that I like. The HKS one sounds to ricey. The GReddy system is too quite. The list goes on... I'm really hoping my Borla setup will have the sound that I am looking for. Once UEL headers hit the market. I will be all over them!

Exactly, I only pulled my muffler because I wanted to drop the weight for autox, although it does sound better than stock. And it is obvious from behind the car that the muffler is missing, so as soon as my car is back from SEMA, there will be muffler on the car, albeit an aftermarket one from PPE Engineering.
Equal length headers, over pipe, and test pipe

And installed.

I might play in STX for a while underprepared, but I will probably return to stock and hold onto the parts until I assemble the rest of the package to go full STX.

I am trying to get a pro deal on Motion Control shocks. Between those and front sway, RTR might be a fun place to play for a little while.

I gotta figure out what it'll take to be competitive in stx with the frs. I'm trying to avoid going to insane 9" wheels and 265 tires..at least until I get an SC and go straight to SP or prepared.

Honestly cops just don't care here in AZ about our car mods. Just be respectful and they won't mind. Or get specialty car insurance like Hagerty. I have it for my Z and it's exempt from all emissions testing and inspections.
I had a cop tell me he likes my exhaust tone with out the muffler. As long as you have either the resonator or the muffler you are good. Resonator is like a straight through muffler that reduces high frequencies. Cops here don't care too much about dB, but even with my muff delete its actually not that loud.
