Here is the comparison against BMW 135i. See how small the FT-86 is going to be?

Comparison against Toyota Celica

Folks, I guess we all forgot about this comparison...

Celica (2005):
Length: 170.5 inches / Width: 68.3 inches / Height: 51.4 inches / Wheelbase: 102.4 inches / Weight: 2500lbs

Name: ft86_vs_celica.jpg

Size: 95.7 KB

And my own version of comparsion between FT-86 and 370Z.

Name: ft86_vs_370z.jpg
Views: 1758
Size: 93.3 KB

Really, between FT-86 and 370Z they are not that different in terms of the size, except that 370Z comes with a bulky hood. (Maybe this would help for people to visualize the 5 cm higher hood for pedestrian protection mentioned during the autocar interview with one of the designer of FT-86).

I think it may look a bit better with a bit higher hood the ratio between the back and front looks a bit odd, the front is really small. I know it's for handling but a bit higher wouldn't affect it to much

Oh, I forgot to mention this. You should see the light-blue and purple lines in the graph. The light-blue lines show the front and the back of the FT-86, whereas the purple lines show the front and the back of the compared car. Hopefully that would give you some perspective in this comparison.

Since the cars are aligned to the front axel, one should look at the wheel base first and then the length for comparison. Using 370z as an example, since the wheel base is only 1 inch difference (101.2 vs 100.4), you should see that both wheels (front and back) are aligned pretty closed. Then if you look at the lengths (370z, 167.1" vs FT-86, 163.8"), you see that 370z is longer on both the front and the back. That means 370z has more overhang compared with FT-86.

Hopefully that clarifies the pictures.

Attention to detail, I appreciate someone else has it
Welcome

When that Godzilla post is scaled correctly, the GT-R will be ginormous compared to the FT-86.

Guys, there seems to be some discrepencies between the actual height of the FT-86... Some people are saying 49.6", the beginning of this thread (and the 'FT86 info thread') states 48.1. What is it really?

I've done a little photoshop too, should clearly show the size difference. Both the cars are aligned to the right side of the picture, and aligned to the bottom.

Edit: The bottom of both cars is clearly not right, this is because of my shoddy selecting. Don't use the 'wheels' as a reference, just the body.

Edit: Also note, this is using the height of 48.1", not 49.6... These were done by cropping the pictures I used to the edges of the car, then changing the width + height to 10x the car's height (in inches) in pixels, so should be pretty much completely accurate.

The FT and the celica are very similar in dimensions and the celica weighs in at 2425 LBS, so I dont see how it would be very hard to keep the weight below 2600. I;m all for the weight. If they can keep the weight below 2600 lbs, I'm totally fine with NA motor at 200hp.

Yeah, I would be more than happy with 2600lbs too, but isn't 200hp a little low for 2.0L nowadays? Honda manages to get 230-240hp out of the S2000 2.0L, and also 210 out of the integra's 2.0L?

I know that's using Vtec, but you would at least expect Toyota to be able to match it with the dual-vvti that's supposed to be on this car?
