I recently swapped in the MTEC spring as well. It was INSANELY hard to install for me, could not find a way to get easy access, I cut my hands up some how, and after all that I didn't get the retainer clip back on.

On top of being an incredibly frustrating install, the benefits don't seem worth it.

To anyone considering this part; don't buy it unless you have real issues with the stock clutch feel. I didn't mind the stock clutch, so although it feels a bit different, doesn't feel better at all for me.

I used like 4 of my own zipties because the ones provided stripped when the spring was compressed all the way.
I also disconnecting the clevis pin from the other side to give some extra play while putting the pin in.
After that, I sat the spring on it's perch and pointed the assembly upward while pulling the clutch forward (toward the steering wheel) and then setting the top part of the spring holder-whatever-it's-called in place, then pivoted the assembly down in place to put the pin in while wiggling the spring assembly so it went in.

I used additional zip ties like the next poster. It helps to remove the pin that connects to the clutch arm to the master cylinder. I was able to freely move the pedal back and forth. It was a little troublesome getting the pin out of the clutch arm to the spring.

For me, i like the feel of the pedal fully returning vs the little slop left around if you were the remove the spring entirely. Sorry you guys dont like it, but for me its worth it with the slave cylinder swap. I dont think the spring would be worth it by itself.

Edit: be mindful that i went springless back to spring, then mtec spring. I was able to feel a difference between the oem and mtec

This all speaks to my rantings in the spring removal and clutch adjustment threads. They're nice but don't address the root cause of the vagueness in the oem setup.

Don't feel bad, @ck-GT86. Everyone has a different preference. It's just great that we have these options.

For those installing either the MTEC or OEM spring, remember, the spring is at it's loosest when the clutch pedal is fully depressed. Now, whether or not it's feasible to work in that position is another story. I haven't reinstalled mine yet so,

I drove @Ultramaroon's car around the block. This convinced me to also do the mod. He said parts only cost about $35ish so why not right?

Much ado about the spring and pedal adjustment in other threads but, as you now see, it's not the root of the issue. Bring your car by my place if you like. We can do it together.

If both parties aren't on the same page it's quite possible. I made a big deal about proper bleeding in the instructions specifically because of past struggles with a less motivated partner.
