Good to know about the MI20's spring rate change. I too will be likely to put the 7k in the rear, 6k f/r was fine, but I had planned on changing to 7k rears anyway

Its all a bit quiet at the moment here in the UK regarding the Ohlins. Most of the vendors I approached said only the MP20 without top mounts and 4kg/3kg f/r springs were avaliable, but one of them had the new MI20 with 7kg/6kg f/r and top mounts. They were in stock so I ordered a set. I'll let you know when I get them.

Bare in mind UK/Europe vs US might be different but the Old MI20 was the same kit as the US with 6kg f/r

Due to some confusion I paid for an MI20 and was shipped an MP20 kit, so I had to ship the kit back to Ohlins to get the correct MI20. I'll have to see what the spring rates are when it arrives (should be next week). The MP20 kit had the really weird 4k/3k springs.

The quality though... just wow.

In my case it was a mistake on the vendor's website's pricing and my inability to read the kit's contents on their mobile site, so I assumed (incorrectly) that it was the MI20. They've been good about fixing it, but it really screwed my plans for next week.

Ohlins US wasn't the issue, so assuming your vendor placed the order correctly, Ohlins UK should get you the proper kit

I hope you are right. I did specifically ask the vendor for specs and if it came with top mounts. That's how I discovered the front springs were now 70N/mm

Hopefully i'll get them next week.

I had a friend of mine that's also interested in the kit contact Ohlins US in regards to setup and spring rate info for the SUS MI20 kit. Attached is what she received. 60N/mm springs front and rear, 2mm of preload. No mention of the 7k spring rate change, I guess I'll find out when mine arrive. I think she may still end up going with 6k all around if Ohlins did make that change.

I noticed that on the SUS MP20 kit, that though it has softer springs the preload is cranked up quite a bit to compensate. 32mm of preload in the front, 28mm of preload in the rear. Nowhere near a square spring setup though it's not quite as bad as the spring rates would suggest.

I was a bit surprised at the increase in front bias since square rates make the car understeer more than stock as it is. Again I wouldn't be shocked if I got 6kg all round!

just got off the phone with Ohlins USA. for U.S., they are offering both kits, one with camber plates, one without, for now. It sounded like Ohlins Sweden just kind of dropped the news on Ohlins U.S. that they are selling the new kit without the camber plates and the U.S. facility is now just getting caught up with info. The kit with camber plates is 6k 6k, kit without camber plates is 4k 3k. According to the sales person, apparently the 6k set up was heavily influenced by the Japanese R&D facility and the new 4k 3k set up is more in tune with the Swedish R&D and they think softening the rear spring rate (but still keeping the stiffer rebound) will get you more grip at the rear end.

based on personal experiences with different set ups I dont know how much of that info I buy, but it sounded like Ohlins USA doesnt know exactly the reason why the rates changed and they are just selling it because Ohlins decided to start selling it online.

I suppose I can be the guinea pig and try out the new kit.. 6k 6k was already on the lower side for me though... Love my Raceseng plates and have no need to buy the kit with the plates but I really want the 6k 6k rates. unfortunately you cannot order the non-camber kit with the 6k 6k rates.

Thanks for making the call! I don't really want the Ohlins plates either as I'll eventually get the Raceseng plates, but oh well. I don't want the 4k/3k rates as they're way too soft even with the increased preload. I don't want the extra rear grip, my car already understeers...

For anyone that wants to buy Ohlins from us, we'll highly recommend the firmer spring rate set-up rather than the softer 4k/3k. That's just VERYsoft and I'm concerned about that in conjunction with the limited travel available.

Also, preload is not spring rate.

Bumping up the preload just helps hide the idiotic spring rates. No clue why Ohlins would do that when you look at so many of their other kits that have stiffer rates than our normal 6k/6k even after comparing motion ratios.

Do we know if the bump travel is the same on the mp20 kit?
