I tried running the conical washer with the Rces and koni yellows. I got the springs down just fine but not enough to get the nut far enough down so I can use the pass through socket method. Installed my 3 rd set today still have issues.
all 3 have been koyo bearings. Wonder what the eta is on revised revised sets? Lol

I'm not using the stock upper spring perch on my RCE Tarmac 2's ... just the stock upper mount and conical washer. Zero problems so far. I'm imagining that with the COM C's you would just use Subaru OEM conical washer as well ... it's the only way you are going to get the proper rotation of the springs under load to avoid the whole spring bind / clunking ...

Got new top hats yesterday put them in. Took the passenger side out this evening to check it and boom bad only 24 hours and the bearings are notchy. The issue I'm starting to think is the oem washer that's welded on the frs spring perch is larger in radius compared to the wrx conical washer. When there is weight put down on it the extra bits of washer is pressing into the part of the bearing that has koyo stamped in it. It's not letting it rotate freely on the bottom side.
Easy fix for stock shocks. Use the conical washer stop fighting with it. For us on konis I'm not sure yet. I can't seem to get the nut on enough to let me use the pass through sockets to hold it it place while tightening down. Shave 2 millimeters off the welded on washer? Maybe get a stock wrx upper spring perch and use the conical washer? Ideas thoughts?

We've had another poster in this thread confirm that the new bearing Whiteline is using is the same bearing the OEM is using. |

Just installed these today along with Eibach springs. Already put about 60 miles on it, including a canyon drive. Too early to really tell at this point but no noise so far. Happy at the moment with them. Will contact a tuner shop soon and get advise if I should wait for issues or miles before going in for proper alignment.

Looking at the picture, it looks like the conical washer puts pressure only on the inner race of the bearing (good!), but the stock perch puts pressure on the whole bearing (bad!).
If that's the case, I bet it could be fixed by just adding a thin smaller diameter washer to the assembly so that the load is carried by the inner race of the bearing only. I'm curious as to why they would design the spring perch like this in the first place, especially when the impreza perch already existed with a better (IMO) design. If they wanted to do away with a separate washer, just make the attached washer conical.

There could be something to this ides, the stock washer is flat an could put load on the dust shield. I wonder if it would be possible to machine the outer edge of the stock washer to make it look more like the old one? |
