Thanks for your response Jack. I did some more research and answered my own question.

Very nice product you have there. It could very well end up in my "Spring Mod Shopping List".

Just received mine

Mods on the BRZ are catless frontpipe, nameless axelback and drop in filter.

I'll post feedback after I get it all pieced together! Well packaged kit. I have a E85 gas station right around the corner so am very excited to test that out when the maps are ready.

for anyone that is interested, I will post pics of where I mounted my flux2 tomorrow. I'm finally starting to feel better (had bronchitis and a bad sinus infection)

What's the process for getting a map tuned for a specific intake that's not already included in the map registry? Is there a generic CAI plus axleback exhaust map?

I'm not sure if they would offer this, but you could always see if you can datalog from a base tune and have them or another tuner adjust it. What intake is it?

My thoughts exactly. To datalog I'd think one would have to purchase the tuner software. Jack?

JUST took my first ride with the unichip installed!!! WOW the throttle response is a lot better. I only have the perrin drop and their is a nice difference! Keep in mind, I have snow tires on... so its hard to see the whole performance gain. E85 should be beast with this. Worth the money all the way.

Love happy drivers... thanks for the feedback!

There are several options for guys using parts we haven’t built maps for… but before getting to those, we’ll be building maps for a while since parts are still coming out for it. With all of our kits, our goal is mapping all popular bolt-ons; and as new parts are released we’ll install and map them on our cars.

Remember, as discussed earlier in one of the threads, not all parts affect the calibration which means they don’t need a new/different map. Those parts may change power, but they’re essentially invisible to the OE ECU so the fueling or timing solutions don't change... which means you don't need a new tune. If for whatever reason, you want a map we’re not currently offering…

… you can go to a tuner that has our software and have them build a calibration.

… if you’re a do-it-yourselfer, you can purchase the tuning software and build your own calibration.

… with a download cable, you can find the closest fit with the available maps… there’s generally a very close map… while it might not be “perfect,” you can typically find a 99% solution if the cost/benefit ratio for 100% is too steep.

The data logging idea is great, but the car already provides you with a “poor man’s” fueling data log you can monitor and read with a Scan Tool like the Flux2 Display. If you look at the Long Term Fuel Trims in the OBD2 data, you get a great idea of the “fit” of the map you’re currently using. It's amazing what data is out there if you know where to look and what to do with it when you get it.

Cheers

So would you recommend I wait to purchase until you have a map built for the Vigilant CAI if I'm not willing to purchase the tuning software and tune myself or go to a tuner with your software? Is there a currently available map that you'd see to be a close enough fit for my setup (CAI plus axleback muffler delete)?

If you're ready to jump in, and you like playing, I don’t think there a reason to wait. If you don’t want to have a cable and download maps, you can certainly wait until the Vigilant map is released.

Along those lines, I just opened a new thread about mapping… http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26134

Lots of options coming soon…

Cheers

I just installed the Unichip. Pretty easy install, just have to get into some tight places to get the plugs all connected. After I got it all installed and zip-tied up, I switched it to map "I" and got in the car.

I was scared something wouldn't work with ignition because I have a BRZ with push-to-start. No fear, it worked great. Started right up.

I drove around slowly for a while to warm up the car and after I felt it was ready, I got a little frisky. It makes more power for sure. Pulls harder, feels more aggressive and puts you in your seat when you get on the gas. I couldn't fully test it because it was somewhat wet outside, however It was losing traction in 4th and 5th gears at fairly low RPM.... something it absolutely wouldn't do before. I can't wait to have it dynoed and also try the e85 maps when they are released. I'll post results.
