well received car back today, they have had vehicle since 8/21. they "officially" replaced egi control unit, valve oil controller, sprocket cam exhaust side. they drove it 10 miles. so car had 101 when i picked it up.. i put about 10 miles on it on drive home.. mostly solid idle, searched for a level it wanted to stay at a bit but pretty much settled at 600, only drove with air on at this point, its hot out. will keep updated on how it goes.

Well, add me to the list now. I was driving the Malibu canyon roads yesterday. Drove for a couple hours through the canyons having a blast! It's my new form of meditation. Then as I'm heading back home, at a stop sign the car idles pretty violently. It started idling in a weird pattern; it would idle ok then dip, shake and make a weird noise and then idle ok again. This pattern would just keep repeating. No cel at all durning this. Then I turned it off and started it again and everything was fine. Still no cel light(s). Kept on driving home and once while glancing down I noticed the cel and sl lights on. They just came on without me noticing. It was driving fine and I just carefully drove straight home. This morning the cel lights were still staying on. Drove it to the dealership near were I live (Toyota of Hollywood). They are unaware of this problem. They have a call into Toyota and they can now only follow their instruction. They said they will call me tomorrow. After reading the issues posted on this forum, I'm not expecting a super quick fix. I am just going to muster up patience keeping an optimistic attitude and put some trust in the process.

On a funny note---> My HP has quite the sense of humor -- I received a Prius plug-in as a loaner. My friends are going to give me hell for this! They sure are going to laugh their asses off. We are always making fun of Prius drivers. lol

Here are my stats to add to this thread:
FRSjeff, Firestorm manual FR-S, 1900 miles, vin 77xx, in shop-today is day 1

Off to pick her up. 27 days on the disabled list (29 since the CEL), and I really think it was only so "short" because I spent a lot-lot-lot of my time (which I value highly) following up for the dealership and SoA. Really micromanaged both of them. It was clear to me there was no action otherwise.

I'm going to start a new thread for those who have gotten the fix done after a drive tonight. I don't have a lot of confidence in the car right now, really worried it's going to leave me stranded...or blow up in the future, at, oh, say, 36,001 miles, because the engine design was finished in a service bay as opposed to on a lab bench.

Grumble.

Add me to the list. CEL came on at 17 miles while dealer was filling it up with gas. I haven't accepted delivery yet. Cam position sensor is on order and will arrive tomorrow. I am on the fence about accepting delivery.

Only replacing the sensor? Hmm. Interesting.
And the pert is shipping same day. Also interesting.

Please keep us updated.

I could've sworn the normal warranty expires at 3/36,000

Just got a CEL this evening, i'm going to drop it off at the shop first thing in the morning. I currently have about 1500 miles on it. Don't have the VIN right now, I'll post later. I do know that my car was 'built' in early August. I babied the car right up until 1000 miles and finally let it breathe every now and then afterwards. Nothing too crazy. The car feels underpowered at the moment and I don't think it sounds any different aside from a few crickets but could possibly be just me over analyzing.

UPDATE: I didn't get an error code but they told me it was an issue with the camshaft. I got a Camry Loaner. Wish me luck.

This has been a very difficult decision for me and it's a shame too because the 86 platform is amazing and everything I ever wanted. I simply refuse to encourage shady sales and deceptive corporate practices with another sale.
I am feeling equally as sick about buying a Toyota since I have never owned a Toyota or thought I would. I traded a 2011 V6 Mustang for the FR-S, which I love, but not the fact that instead of driving it I have a crappy Camry in my garage and my red Mustang is on the front row of the Toyota used car lot! Worried about this experience for sure!
