Have no clue how accurate this is anymore but surprise!
At least at one point in time more of us "old" guys (45+ years) were buying these cars then the younger crowd.

Bought my 1985 White MR2 new as a 32 year old kid. Bought my 2001 Silver MR2 as a graying 48 year old kid. Just bought my 2016 Lunar Storm FR-S and feel like I did in 1985!

Considering most people are nearly 50 by the time they have the credit to buy a new car, I'll believe it.

20 When I bought my first FRS (had cosign) going on 23 now in August and now own the car without a cosign though extra 1.5% interest which sucks but at least my credit rating has built up a lot. You are never too old for a car. I will probably still be driving cars like this when I am 80.

This mirrors pretty closely the average age of most car purchasers regardless of brand.

Looks to me like it's primarily a function of buying power and a family need/want for multiple cars.

Yep. Of course we have no clue as to how many of those cars were bought by somebody older but actually driven by somebody much younger.

I truly think because our age group grew up driving RWD cars. I've always thought the age demo was not targeted correctly for the car. The younger demo grew up on FWD so this is a new animal to them in a sense.

50 now. Purchased my first new truck when I was 23, with no cosigner. Things must have changed...then again, I got thru school without a student loan too.

Yes it is a new animal to me. I'm 19 and learned to drive with FWD. it was a little too easy to just blindly mash the gas pedal so RWD is more fun to learn car control in

I am 24 (almost 25) and married.

I bought my FR-S when I was 22 with no cosigner as well, so I guess it just depends on how much credit you have built up to that point.

A guy in his 40's stopped me in the parking lot, had never seen one of these cars before. Asked me questions like when was it made etc. Said he was looking at 370Z's but now seeing this car its the one he wants now.

I get that all the time! A guy in Waterbury this morning was like BRZ? What's that? Is better than a WRX! I was like yeah well it's half Toyota so... I told him they have only been in production for 3 years and is a limited production... maybe a bit of an exaggeration although my hyperblue is limited.
