My only concern is that the RS editions will be targeted by car thieves. A motivating factor for selling my S2k was the rate they were being stolen in S.Florida. It wasn't worth the hassle and higher insurance premiums for me.

Did anyone else clear bra their RS 2.0? My first mods were Suntek tints and clear bra. I went with the front bumper, 1/4 fender panels, 1/4 hood, door cups, trunk luggage area and rocker panels for $700. The installer took his time and actually owns a 2013 FRS. I felt it was a must with all the highway miles I'll be driving.

I have 2014 and did clear bra.
- 1/4 hood
- 1/4 front fenders

I did not do the front bumper but, see below, probably should have.

FF Two years later...

A couple nicks and pings in the clear bra which would have harmed the paint in goodly manner without the bra. I need to look at bra from right angle too see them and I wasn't able to get clear shots to illustrate. Suffice to say it works.

Meanwhile, here is image of a hit on front bumper which isn't protected.




There is also a couple dings in paint on leading edge of roof (unprotected) where probably caught some rocks on highway at some point.



And on the hood about a foot behind bra's trailing edge.



* I know you know what dings look like just showing that they exist all around the clear bra but not in / on / through the bra itself. In other words, it's doing it's job.

Yeah.... I have learned if you get up and are about to walk out the door, they will find a way to bring the price down. I have never paid sticker price on a car and they knew I was seriously about to leave and buy the Focus ST. I think they thought I was blowing smoke up their ass until I called the finance manager at the Ford dealership and put him on speaker phone and let them hear the deal I was getting from Ford.

Next thing I know they were able tonwork with me.

Did the RS 2.0 come with TRD lowering springs?

The dealership said the RS 2.0 didn't come with matching floor mats. They threw in the regular FRS floor mats but wanted to know if that was true.

Hmmm...I considered doing the headlights, A-pillars and roof but the dealer ran out of Suntek clear bra material. It's definitely not cheap. $50 just for the headlights to be covered. So, you think the 1/4 roof line gets impacted too.

Yes on the roof being impacted. Hit fairly often too. And the roof is an awkward location to touch-up rock craters. (whereas buffing out a bumper scratch is easier access)

But, would I 1/4 clear bra it?
No.

At least not a quarter bra.
- Partly reason is the quarter bra might not have protected against the chip marks I have. One of those scratches is about 24 inches back from the front edge.

- Partly the reason is cosmetic - there's the line where the bra ends which would be a little unsightly to me each time I got into the car.

I've seen others vinyl wrap and plasti-dip the whole roof. And those look good - like a deliberate cos mod.

Meanwhile... Even now, with 2 years of driving, only a few minor scratches. And I ask myself do I wish I had a 1/4 roof bra?

Answer is a (weak) no.

Then I ask myself, what if it was a full roof clear bra.

Answer, (weak) yes. That would look good and protect against the rocks.

But is that yes powerful enough for me to go get a bra or vinyl wrap now?
No.

I would like the protection, yes, but not the cost of the full wrap I'd want.


Would I recommend it?
No.
Would I discourage it?
No.

A quarter bra would be good protection. And if the edge line won't bother you then it's a worthwhile purchase - it really is inexpensive compared to the cost/time/energy to buff out roof scratches.

I had a local shop do the paint protection on my RS 2.0: hood, fenders, mirrors, bumper, roof, a-pillars, and headlights. Can get pricey depending on coverage, but definitely keeps it looking nice, especially since this is my DD. The shop uses XPEL kits, which you can buy and DIY to save some money.

Nice. $120 for the pillar and roof kit. So maybe a couple hundred to have pro install it. Cheaper than fixing chipped paint.

Having had this discussion about it is leaning me towards getting my scratches fixed and applying the clear skin to the roof.

... always seems to be "just one more thing" lol

For anyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, check with Kevin at ForceField for paint protection. He came highly recommended when I was looking for someone, and did a great job on my car. Labor costs are pretty reasonable, and you know you're getting a professional installation, by someone with significant experience and references.
