I just went over 6k and now I hear it. Didn't understand at first what the noise was and its connection to crickets. Now, I do.

Is there a confirmed cause of this yet? There are several on this issue, so I'm going to go read them again. If I missed the culprit being ID'd, sorry, feel free to tell me to seach and also tell me what it is.

The dealership confirmed the "chirping" noise and told me that it was the High Pressure Fuel Pump.

IF ethanol-free gas "sixes" this problem, where are all the people running E-85 with a locust swarm? Somebody must make a suitable sub fuel pump.

Yup..... They're Back.....
Damn it!

Had the pump replaced once, 2 days later crickets were back and even worse.
Took it back in had it replaced with the new reivsed pump......next day crickets back and O_O its aweful!!! I have crickets on start up and when warmed up, from idle up to 1500-1750 rmp.

My dealership talk to toyota engineer, and told me there is no fix... no eta for fix... and said i could get the pump replaced as many times as i wanted but there was no point to be honest!

This. I figured they don't have a solution except to throw new fuel pumps at the problem. I read something earlier about possibly spacing out the HPFP from the engine and fitting a heat shield on it. Anyone try this yet?

I have no clue where the HPFP is located so idk what it would require to space out or if its possible or actually located somewhere not on the engine. So forgive my ignorance lol.

At this point it doesn't seem like there is any point in going in to have your fuel pump replaced unless you just want it on record that you got it replaced. Personally, I'd rather have less mechanics taking my car apart and putting it back together if I already know it won't fix it.

Just had my HPFP replaced yesterday. Revised pump with the green dot on the shipping box. I will report back and let you know if the sound comes back. Also got the window switch replaced, it works great now, do not have to press it two or three times to get the window to go down/up.
