Absolutely not. This is actually the opposite. Purely cosmetic.

Same weight as the GT trim in Japan. 1250kg for automatic, 1230kg for manual.

So the 1470 kg shown in the linked brochure is for another model?

Kudos, to Toyota for trying something else with the 86. Even if it doesn't seem to be the best for everyone's taste buds. Still I don't think this will make it across the ocean.

So I was just doing some research on the new Azurite blue.Hard to tell with the generated Toyota pic so I looked on Subaru's site and found a late model Legacy has this color that maybe the closest if not the same to the Azurite blue. Just a guestimate. Here is the Subaru Lapis Blue Pearl and the Azurite Blue. Dunno but could be the same.

Also...are the 2016 FR-S fenders been lightened to reduce weight? Seems this is saying something like that.

I think they're just boasting about what currently exists. Couldn't possibly be any thinner than they already are.

Japanese like to make things out of paper - maybe they could make paper fenders for the ultimate in lightweight fenders...

The color code is different.
The current one is C7P and 2016 is M7Y.
