Jokes aside, my dad is a judge and pretty commonly they get convictions based on people posting on Facebook about crimes they have committed, with pictures and details. And these are adults.

And little doubt that if it doesn't say a word about it then that will be interpreted as yet another indication of guilt in some weird twisted way.

Don't get me wrong here guys, I am not defending the guy if he actually did it. Just wondering is the US no longer "innocent until proven guilty" or have you just dispensed with the whole need of evidence and due process and a hunch is all that is required? Still not convinced that anything was even done to the car as the damage is so small. If the guy is kicking cars the light material of an FRS would have far more damage then a "door ding" as originally described. My car is relatively babied and has little dings all over it (even 2 in the middle of the hood) and I am not running around trying to find somebody to blame. The dings could be from just driving back and forth to school. Hell, OP bought it used so they may have been there all along and were just noticed. I will now refrain from any other posts on this thread as I have tried in vain (well mostly in vain as I can tell there are at least a few others that agree with my theories) to be a voice of reason.

So I think that is has been at least a week and you still haven't gotten proof from the school? You need to go to the principle and demand the evidence, it doesn't take this long to look through the footage and find who did it if you already have a relative time frame of when you think the vandalism is occuring. For all you know the school's cameras might just be there for deterrence and are not actually functional. I don't know of any school in my state, that is public, that actually has security cameras around the school.

Two years ago back in high school me and my friends were headed to a krispy kreme with a kid we didn't really like very much that was supposed to be at swim practice but followed me and my friend only because we knew a shit ton about cars and wanted to learn about them. Me and my friend were going pretty fast but we knew what we were doing and the other kid couldn't really keep up at all. What ended up happening was we were totally stopped at a red light for a good 2 minutes and I look in my rearview mirror he was going way to fast over the crest of a hill and under estimated the breaking distance and slammed his outback into the back of my CR-V. His excuse was that he was in manual mode and the car didn't react quick enough. The CRV didn't get one scratch not even a mark but his front bumper was totally ruined and the hood took forever to open properly. It also pinched the coolant hose giving it a pin hole and a very slow leak. We end up at krispy kreme and we ignore him while he formulates stupid plans about how to hide this from his parents. He goes back to school parks then goes inside to attend an event as an alibi then calls his parents. They call the police file a vandalism report school gets involved etc. Also next couple of days his parents did the same thing OP did every morning in the parking in the lot watching everyone picking people out targeting them etc. To this day his parents don't realize it was his fault and his stupidity, his parents were naive in thinking that because he had As was getting scholarships and stuff that he couldn't have done it. Long story short OP please take it to heart that we as teenagers can formulate a story to cover a mistake easily and not to discredit your son or family values but maybe a dent or two was your sons fault maybe not who knows but with the school giving you the run around and you jumping to conclusions nothing will come of this quickly........ just question him a bit more

It's also not just about the money. Sometimes people are jealous that they're simply not in a position to own a 2 door sports car. It's not about the money; it's about them sitting in their $31k loaded Camry with the baby seat in the back and crayons everywhere and feeling jealous that it's no longer practical for them to purchase a little sports coupe. |

Here is where I am at: school called and said they saw nothing on video. I thanked them. My wife did not want to come forward for fear of being charged for trespassing. I asked them what was the law against me sitting in parking lot? All you need is the school's permission. They got me in contact with the school deputy. He said he would keep a look out.
My son gets home, two more dents on the passenger car door. The dents have tar on them. The dents are right under the side mirror. Enough is enough, I go to the local police. They have no jurisdiction at the school. State police issue. Turns out the deputy I spoke with is the person in charge of these type of situations. I sit here a victim. My knowledge for cars is my down fall. Everyone thinks I am over reacting. The irony of life.... |

I'm so emotionally invested in this story by now I need the reassurance that its not all an illusion. Though, I'm sure it is very real for you. Sorry for the troubles your having, and I hope it resolves well. Last edited by FR-STY 86; 11-21-2014 at 12:06 AM. |

1. They are lying. 2. Your son is lying. 3. The cameras don't actually work, in which case see #1. 4. They are so fucking incompetent that they allowed the footage to be recorded over before reviewing it, in which case see #1. I think you have to demand to see the video yourself. Do you have a lawyer? It might help to have an attorney call the school and try to get a copy of the video. I think it's likely that they don't actually have any footage, and they're bullshitting you to cover it up so that the kids don't know they're not actually being recorded. It's also possible that they are covering for the kid for some reason. Perhaps they are afraid that if they admit it happened on school grounds under their watch, the school will share in the liability. And it's long past time for your own cameras set up in the car. If the school doesn't have a problem with you staking out the parking lot, you need to make sure you have a camera with you to get video of any incidents you witness. |
