Haha nope, Mississippi. I can't imagine where you might've gotten Kentucky from. The Air Force provides college credits for the training you do when you first join, for your particular job. I fix radios, so I've got a few basic electronics credits, but that's not what I want to do with my life, so they're pretty useless.

I'm not active duty either, so unless I'm on orders (and if they're not cutting it off for once) I'm not elligible for tution assistance. I'm in the Air National Guard, so I still get the GI Bill, Kicker, and all that stuff. I'm pretty much ready to go, I just need to decide what route I want to take. I think I want to get into medical school, so I need to come up with a solid plan for building a resume to get into it. From the handful of dcotors I've talked to about it, they've all said the same thing: your resume needs to stand out from everyone else's. So a pre-medical degree is nice and all that, but that's what everyone else also has that's applying for medical school.

Nevermore. He's from Kentucky. That's where. Nevermore. I was just talking to him. m'kay?

I'm OLD, I tell you. You must make allowances, just as I do for you youngsters.

SeeEE!

What did I just tell you?!

Even YOU know that you have a good mind.

I read an article in the past year about how medical schools are moving away from applicants with a science, pre-med background and are looking for a more "humanities-oriented" student, such as English majors. See if you can find that article; it might prove helpful. It may have been Harvard that they were writing about, I don't recall.

Yep, that mirrors exactly what I've heard as well. Apparently lots of bullets about how you volunteered for various humanitarian-type projects are really good too.

There's about a 50% chance I'll be spending all next year doing even more Air Force training though, so if that happens, the ol' degree will be delayed for yet another year. I'm fine with that, though. Another thing all the surgeons have suggested is that you shouldn't get in too much of a hurry to get an M.D. because you could drive yourself to stress which could lead to giving up. At first I was all bothered about being almost 30 and just now getting started on a ~14 year education, but they've all assured me it's irrelevant, so I'm no longer worried about it.

And I'm also open to the possibility that I might get a year into and realize it's not for me. Obviously I have 0 doctoring experience, and you don't really know how something is until you try it. I used to think the military was a bunch of badass manliness, all day every day. Running through tires, climbing over walls, getting yelled at by angry dudes in Smokey The Bear hats, and lots of firearms everywhere. Then I joined. Haha nope. Not even close. Especially in the Air Force.

In less words, I guess I'm trying to say I try to set myself up to expect radical changes and not be disappointed if things don't go as planned. That said, I still want to be an orthopedic surgeon.

Yeah, the electric motor is probably just fine the way it is. Oh well. *Tries to muse up another interesting idea*
