3) Size/Weight. To most of us, this is the 1st/2nd most important aspect, with emphasis on the weight. Originally it was said it would be around the size of an S2000 (162.7 inches). I believe since then, the vehicle has increased in length by 2-3 inches based on pictures seen. I'd expect the size to be closer to the 370z (167.2 inches). My guess, expect the car to be around 165.5 inches long. As far as weight is concerned now, for comparison sake, the 370z is 3,232lbs but 332hp. That's about 9.73lbs per horsepower. While I'm not solely basing my weight estimate on this math, I think if the 370z is a direct competitor, the weight for this vehicle, if 300hp, would be around 2950lbs. Essentially, just shy of 3000lb.

Again, these are just opinions.. Thoughts?
Judging by the concept cover, I really doubt this will be shorter than the 370Z. That'd be saying that the extra overhang only adds about an inch and a half from the original concept, but there's easily 4 inches added. It looks like it'll be slightly bigger than the 370Z, which still isn't a bad size.

I don't think the 370Z won't be the main competitor, that's a $30k car, which goes against their branding the FT as more of an entry-level enthusiast-oriented car. The immediate competition would be the Genesis coupe, Mustang V6--maybe even other sports compacts like the Civic Si and Golf GTI. Really don't think they'll eek out 300 hp from a FB20 Boxer that's N/A.

The direct competitor I see is the Genesis coupe 2.0T--that's 210hp and $22k, so I'm guessing the $22-24k range. Genesis coupe is gigantic (182 inches) and weighs 3300 lbs... so my guess is the FT86 will weigh maybe 2900. 2800 at the lightest methinks.

Granted, there are lots of ways to bring down the weight--high-tensile steel, aluminum, less safety reinforcements--but if this is supposed to be an inexpensive car you won't get much weight-saving materials that'll drive up cost.

Question for me is, should I stay up past 1am for the official unveil... dangit.

And I stayed awake for that. Hell no. Looks like a joke, like a cheap mod-job. Hope it is not as bad as this pictures suggests.

I'm also not feeling the LED on the front but that looks like the higher end spec. Maybe the lower spec wont have that LED, is this the almost production already?

hmmm that angle makes that hood look really tall, and the pics with the cover on dont seem to show that, so im hoping the side profile looks lower than that.

i wanna see the real thing...
