Outside the Irish Bred Pub & Grill in the town square, Carrollton, GA. This is my new "go to" place for lunch with my son who attends the local university. There are also several other good establishments on the square including a "ribs and jazz" joint and the requisite coffee house.

Plus, I had to sneak this in to get the 86th picture posting!

Man, now I'm even more pissed I didn't get to go. I'd have had "the old man" sign my car somewhere. He is my Father's doppelganger!

Wild Horse Monument along I90 in Central Washington State.
East side of the Columbia River across from Vantage, WA.
All the horses are full size cut, bent and welded steel plate up on the edge of the canyon wall.

Tour de France started today

Writing up my trip report while soaking in my anual virtual French vacation.

Mt. Tamalpais, Marin County

group photo time! 7 of us drove up to the peak of Mt. Tamalpais, the highest mountain in Marin County. It has great views overlooking the SF Bay Area and you can see San Francisco's skyline from up there.

ok, I know that one doesn't really show any scenery. Couldn't get all the cars in the shot and still get a view.

So here is a shot of @BigFatFlip's car with SF in the background.

Here is the view. Marin County below, SF in the distance.

following @86_ZN6 and @Simpleviet on the way back down, more breathtaking views of the Pacific and the CA coastline.

So now we've done 2 of the 3 highest peaks in the SF Bay Area -- Mt. Tam and Mt. Ham. One last peak awaits us -- Mt. Diablo.

Bakersfield Landmarks

My son and I took two shots today. If you have heard of the late Buck Owens, then you may have heard of the Crystal Palace, Buck's music hall, nightclub, bar, restaurant, and museum:

Adjacent to the Crystal Palace is the remade "Bakersfield" sign that used to cover a pedestrian bridge across Union Avenue. The bridge got too old and weak, and had to be torn down. So, prior to his passing, Buck had portions of the sign saved and used these elements to build a new version next to his Crystal Palace.

here's another shot of my car at Altamont Pass, near Livermore, CA, famous for its massive windmill/wind turbine farms. And being very windy.
