I have nothing against Sportsguy83 and 2forme, but man does it get old hearing from you two in all the supercharger threads. If you're so against the supercharger route, why even hang out in these threads?
I mean no offense to either of you...it just gets very old. It starts a pissing match, between you two and gem...then everything gets sidetracked. I think you guys belong in the turbo threads. |

I have nothing against SC and I have said it a million times before. Did you read my post above? I bolded my problem with Gem and called him out. Misinformation. Read it. I have seen Gem write MANY incorrect information and kept my mouth shut, because I don't want the thread turning into a pssing match. But I cannot keep it shut every single time while seeing post after post with the wrong information. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect it fully. I'll say it one more time. I can't stand lies, misinformation and misleading posts. One last thing on the bolded part of your comment. I have NEVER said nothing bad about SC. I have never said its wrong for the car, I have never said you shouldn't do it, I have even praised them and admit Perrin's kit was my second choice. But you won't see me making up stuff to make them look bad. Gem in the other hand....

I like turbos, my first turbo car was 33 years ago. However they have all been factory based installs.
The AVO turbo may or may not be a fine kit, but there is no way I can ever put one my car. I can't get it inspected. They replace/move the catalytic converters and that's a deal breaker End of story.

Motorcycles are a different story, my Ducati 848 does not have the factory (catted) silencers, but it is not a criteria, yet... The racket they have here is they usually say your windshield wipers are not good enough and leave "streaks" on the windshield. I just put new wipers on the day I get my vehicles inspected.

I'm from Texas and I owned a RSX-S and EvoX with no cats and still passed inspection. They plug in to the obd but if you have the secondary o2 sensor disabled or use a defouler to trick the ecu you won't have a cel and pass. Atleast I did every year from 2005-2011 on both cars.

Yeah, you can get some places to pass you, but they are "supposed" to check for emissions equipment.
I just don't need the hassle. One of my cars CEL dash, light bulb was burned out, never noticed. It didn't illuminate in the start up sequence. Even though it passed the OBD check, it failed because the light bulb was bad.

The fact of the matter is that removing any of the cats is against federal laws. replacing them with high flow units is a grey area.
In Utah, like most states, being caught removing or modifying emissions equipment is just a hassle. You have to know the right place to go, or they will fail you. |

I do not go pissing away this way in the 'other threads', atleast I try to not be that guy on the AVo thread or the innovate thread. But I think the counter points, probing and challenging is good and healthy for our community, makes the results stronger. even if results show folks are lined up for something that has yet to hit the ground, thats telling, that they want more power and are willing to take on a system without metal tubing, without a FMIC or whatever. says alot about the buyers of this cheap sports car and their build experience set too.
Some of these ultra retarded posts I see here will get you banned, societally from many a m3 board! As we see, vendors will need to decide if they want to take the business or turn it away in the name of a more expensive ideally better made american made kit is why they think they can command more for their product over the other guy. So far the majority of folks want a product from a little known vendor who has little to no forum involvement, cool. There will be alot of guys who buy a kit they think they can afford, realize its not all it was cracked up to be, and then sell it on ebay before stepping up to a solution that works. What mileage warranty does AVO give, oh none, and innovate? oh they have none either. huh. what maybe 12 month 12,000 miles? at best? if youre lucky? remember we put on 800 miles a week. yeah. Vortech. not too many other choices for someone who demands true reliability Really tho, to want a kit thats not yet real, has no real numbers, and has not even come close to Beta test let alone track test,is holding your breath Last word for me is what systems survive triple digit temps, which ones dont detonate out, which ones dont overheat? peak power is not what will win my dollars reliability, unlimited mile warranty, these win my faith, but by all means go strap a garret to yours, buddy! as a stick driver, i know better than to ask for peak TQ from a horizontally opposed four all the V8 drivers just need to learn to downshift this says alot about the driving style of the group too this aint rennlist.org "I want to put my foot down and go in sixth gear" ..fucking noobs...learn to downshift and drive a racecar, not just park sideways at the grocery store.. you want inline 6 turbo power from this poor four banger, and there are vendors trying to bring you that early on TQ, but it will cost you the win on the track. many folks will end up wit builds that do not pass the Phoenix litmus test lots of folks will be happy with cheaper inferior product Inno0vate has more drag, is putting out a hotter charge, heck stage one doesnt even have an IC on a FI system,? line right up folks! WTF? if people are okay with that, good for them. LOL its pretty funny to watch, like a freight train wreck you just cant look away No car manufaturer sells cars suggesting these cars are fine for use unless youre traveling thru Phoenix, so I am with 2forme, the last word is who who gets their ass towed off the track, and who finishes first with the shorter lap time. Looking forward to tracking with the Innvate and AVO builds, say when and where Last edited by gmookher; 01-14-2013 at 10:04 AM. |
