GT86 could be low spec base, BRZ could be high base, or any number of factors. We need actual specs/trims/options/etc for both cars before we will have a clue. They will weight exactly the same if optioned the same except for the slight difference in bumper and side panel weights (the stupid chrome strip instead of whatever the scion has.. maybe the same stupid chrome strip for all we know, it's unlikely that it will have the 86 design IMO).

Oh and the exhaust weight difference, assuming they really are different once the car hits production.

0 to 60 in the upper 5 to low 6 secs is good.

Handling as good or better than a Porsche Cayman....priceless!
If the High trim is still less than 2700lbs, I think we are good even to have options added in. Car is light even with options...that's just awesome. Just awesome to know I don't need to gut the car down to the metal, just add power and I'm good to go.

Wheels: Those wheels have been seen on both. There are multiple options, but those wheels are in Toyotas books as well, so they'll either be available on both or standard on both high spec cars. Until US spec is released we won't know for sure.

Emblems: Of course. Steering wheels, wheels, front, back and side panels. All of that is expected. I suspect GT86/86 side panels will be a very popular change. I think they look nice and think the subaru ones look like cheap shit..

Wheel size: See the wheels comment. Both are likely to have non staggered 17s with 215/45/17 tires. The 18s are an option (and there are at least two 18" options).

Weight: GT86/86 minimum weight is likely the base/low spec. The Subaru may be the high spec. Without any real details/specs it's impossible to say, however, if you equip them the same, the weight difference will come down to whatever the differences in the bumper and side plaque panel weights are.
Good I like the tailights on the BRZ...glad the Scion will look like that. I am going to hold you to it!

I still think the car needs bigger wheels and tires but that's just me. I know bigger wheels mean more weight. Light weight is the key to success in these cars. But some people want to put 16 inch rims on it! This is not the late 90s and this is not a civic si...LOL!

I am ok with the 17 inch rims, I will just get some much better tires..

Hi all.

Still undecided over the cars and I might have to do the sensible thing and wait a year after their release just to see ongoing reviews or the possibility of facelift models.

I am also hoping that the TRD version is a higher revving, higher output NA engine, while the STI would get a turbo. I have always thought of Toyota as a rival to Honda in terms of high-revving NA engines, while Subaru's for me are always better turbo'd.

Anyway back to the BRZ....
(Why couldn't they call it BZ-R like the top Trueno/Levin version of the AE111 models?)

Could someone please photoshop the black plastic bar on the front of the BRZ and reduce it by about 50% in overall height, making the "mouth" section bigger.

I know it doesn't affect you guys in the US, but you also please add a number plate to the front of the BRZ.

That's fast enough.

But we will have to do independent testing to find out if that is true...

I think 17's are plenty big as well for me (nothing against anyone who wants larger wheels). One of the really large pictures showed the wheel close up and it looked like the 215's were stretched a bit on the rim. Some 225's would do nicely on there. I agree with the sentiment of others regarding wheels though. If they come with 17's, fine, but if they really are looking to make it a 'tuner friendly' car, they should just sell it with steelies and have the option for alloys.

I can't find the post right now, but someone mentioned that it looks more like a "touring" model. Slightly more refined. I like that. I feel like I'd be more at home driving the BRZ. Maybe that's just 'cause I drive a wagon now and I'm not used to flashiness.

Is it just me or do the front fender arches look lower? They are too high on the Toyota version IMO... they almost look higher than the back so it looks weird. BRZ FTW. I wanna see what it looks like slammed on JDM wheels. ^_^

Just realized how large the side view mirrors are. They made them half body color/half black to try to hide their size, but they can't trick me!

They aren't really that big, they are normal size. The car is just small.

Nothing like the camera's on the BRZ STI concept though! I'm not necessarily complaining, just noticing how much of a difference the split colors make.
