My car is barely an STX car & it's very competitive so far. When the cars are fully prepped to the STX limits, I think when dialed in & driven well--they'll be hard to beat on most courses. They will have difficulties in point & shoot courses against the Bimmers, due to their superior TQ, IMO.

My .02...

That and we haven't seen a nationally competitive 2.5L WRX build in the right hands. Time will tell but no thinks it will be an underdog.

I don't know if I agree. 140wtq vs 285wtq and 195wtq even with a 250-350lbs advantage isn't going to change that course dependency a whole lot. And if it does, say goodbye to STX and hello to STR.

My BRZ has seen some competition from the Bimmer and RX8..Neal Tovsen, who is pretty much up there when it comes to prep and driving... was about 2.3 secs down to him over a 2 day event. His car placed 1st and 3rd, my car places 2nd and 5th, 4th place was a well prepped WRX .. so I will say its going to be VERY competitive IMO.. Proof will be for me , At Dixie, going up some other well prepped cars, Bimmers, RX8, and another couple of 86's... coming up here in March.

Getting back to setup:

I have little clue on how to set this car up regarding alignment, toe, camber etc, when my dampers finally arrive.

Wondering if I shouldn't ask some of the really fast STR MX-5s what their specs are & try that, seeing that the cars are fairly similar in config/weight/tire size etc. Am I crazy? lol

Seeing I'll have few (if any) shakedown events prior to Dixie--I hope I don't embarrass myself. DOH!

I had this and it seemed to work:

-3 front, .5 more caster than stock, 0 toe

-1.8 rear, 1/16" total toe-in

I don't have typical ride height measurements, just where I had them on the KW's when I removed them.

I was planning on a light-weight flywheel and a more aggressive final drive for my build. I'm not all that concerned about being competitive, I just want to go out and have fun... Can anyone tell me what class would be appropriate for those mods?

Street Modified (SM) I believe though I'm shakey on the rear end gear change allowance.

Yep, one can change gearing & L/W flywheel in SM.

Although... Doing those w/o supporting mods (read: FI), will result in slaughter within that class.
