alignment issue
So I got the SS1s installed and got an alignment done but haven't had a chance to drive it much so plan to do a review at a later date but so far they are great with ride comfort but anyhow, if i have the slot on the strut maxed out on both sides with crash bolts, what would be the reason that the top would need alot more adjusted on one side than the other to get alot of negative camber? ie like -3.0 camber, would it be a subframe issue, or something bent on the car?? The adjustment on one side is just about maxed out on top on the other side is was barely was moved.

Send me a pm and we can work through this issue. Myles is working at the track all weekend but I'll be able to help. Could be a bent lower control arm or an alignment shop mistake (or both).

I had a weird summer (well up to this point) where I really didn't get a chance to drive the car more than street use as much as usual. SO, I JUST did my first autocross last weekend after having the SS1 coilovers on since april or so.
They were great! I think better for autoX than track use if that makes sense. Track use was 'good' but for autoX I coudln't ask for more. Started with settings dead center (I knew i wouldn't want them ANY softer than that). Car was fine, but a bit wallowy. Put them up a few clicks all around (probably around 15/19) and it was better. Then put them to full stiff up front and while they were still good, it was more nervous over ripples in pavement so backed them back off to 16/19 and left it the rest of the day. Rears were a bit softer around 14-5 out of 19. Car was planted, had traction ALL the time and was well behaved and predictable. Won my class and was 3 seconds faster than my friend who's FRS is similar to my OLD setup before I bought these coilovers. We used to be MUCH closer comparatively, so that's my imprecise but pretty reliable meter that these have vastly improved my autoX results. |

Ok, i got my first event on the SS1s, since i am rusty it did take me 6 runs and 3 fun runs to get the car down on times and i felt like my last run wasn't leaving a whole lot left on the table. With the Perrin 22mb set on soft up front, and -3 ish camber up front and -2.2 in the rear with slight toe in, i felt like the car was fairly neutral with a slight bit of understeer at the limits, i ended up having to stiffen the fronts to about 80% stiff and rears around 50-60% with 32 psi up front and 30 rear, i was really happy with how the car handled, i just need to learn how to drive it better at this point! I am very happy with daily driving on these, i actually feel like they are better than the stock set up, and seem so far that they are gonna work well for auto x.

Just got my set of SS1s. After reading this thread it looks like factory camber bolts are the way to go. How many should I get? Are they needed front and rear?

You get 2, one for each front corner.
As for the rear, you might want rear lower control arms to dial in the camber. My car had almost a degree of cross camber which isn't ideal. Fairly common on this platform due to sloppy factory tolerances

You are gonna love the SS1s, really happy with mine and Racecomp engineering has been great for info and help!! and i recommend rear camber arms also to get a more even setup unless u get lucky out of the box with the lowering.

How much leeway does the valving allow for when it comes to adjusting spring rates? Could the consumer get away with something like a 50lb/in increase ?

Yes absolutely. I've gone as soft as 4 kg/mm front and rear (224 lbs/in) and as stiff as 7 kg/mm (392 lbs/in) front and rear on my own SS1s.
