on stock tires, they're slipping. trust me. on e85 i spin in 3rd when it comes onto boost. 2nd is literally useless at anything above 3.5krpm. it doesn't take hardly anything to turn prius tires into smoke.

I agree, shifting to 3rd chirp too. Or downshifting from 5-6 to 3rd.

oh no chirp here. if you were to shift into third hard and go wot it would spin endlessly until you get of the gas or shift to 4th. prius tires suck balls. that's only on a gtx2867r @ 15psi, probably 350ish whp. so not much... i have no idea how the big-power guys keep it straight even with good tires.

Time will tell but I think I'll opt for a OS Giken clutch when it's time to install FI for me.

A couple of questions:
What are the Fuel Pump and Injectors duty cycle at with this kit? What is the target AFR? What are the average IATs, Oil, and Coolant temps on both street and track? Would an aftermarket catted UEL, such as the FT86 SpeedFactory, change the VE so drastically that a tune would be mandatory with the complete CARB certified kit? I am trying to come up with a solid build plan that requires reliability, minimal parts, quiet exhaust, and no torque dip with a nice bump throughout the RPM range. I think your kit, with the addition of the aforementioned catted UEL, is all that I would need to achieve my goals. Thanks for the help in advance. I know JR has mentioned testing in different climates, but are there recommendations for temperatures with this kit? This is my daily driver, so I don't want to do damage to the supercharger by running it at below zero temperatures or damage my engine if the tune can't compensate for temperature extremes.

They have a "tune it yourself" kit. And yes, changing the header is going to change things enough that you're risking your engine running a CARB tune with an aftermarket header. Last edited by Sellout; 12-20-2013 at 09:39 AM. |

That is true. The $1000 difference would pay for the tune for sure. I will have to look into local tuners. I just don't want to be endlessly having to make adjustments like I did with my SRT4. Constantly data logging and tuning gets tedious.

Oh yeah. I didn't even realize it was that big of a difference. You're not in Cali and have no reason to abide by CARB standards. You also have better gas than we do. Definitely get a TIY kit and get a good custom tune that takes advantage of your fuel. CARB tunes have to leave a LOT on the table because ACN91 octane is complete shit. I'd rather have Canada's maple syrup gas.
