The fascia on the red one just looks so much cleaner. Why did they do that?!

Genesis

They are getting there so to speak, Stepping it up in Power and such...but from I have read Prone to understeer and suspension isn't quite there yet.

Thanks for sharing review / pics !!

Def a good bang for buck speed wise..if you don't need a back seat, 370Z all the way IMHO. Better handling and 13.4 range in 1/4 vs 13.8 V6 model Genesis .

Go Hyundai for Stepping it up from 2.0L 200hp - 270hp and V6 up to340hp now! Def a tune on the 2.0L could be a Beast and still achieve decent mpg.

Nice to see car companies cont to improve a car!

Dark color is a weak attempt to hide its sheer ugliness.
Don't turn the lights up......she's ugly.

I don't think anyone would disagree with you that the 370Z is a more true sports car. But many people are interested in the GC because of the back seat. Also, the GC is competing more against the G37 rather than the 370Z.

Im with Orbitall on liking the older front end more but I still haven't seen the 13 model. My problem with the fascia is the 2011 model face looks like it matches with the body because the front end looks low-slung and the body is low-slung. But the 2013 fascia looks like it belongs on a Charger or something more boxy-like. Its like they merged two different cars together.

Dem hood heat extractors are fake?

And I can't seem to "love" the new front but I don't hate it either.... Its those crazy busy headlights and huge plastic piece thing in the front that mess it up.

Fog lights don't look like they belong there even to they look nice..Shoulda just left the DRL's

Ok, I just saw a previous gen GC 3.8 (with Brembos) in a parking lot and it drew my curiostiy. Especially since so many here been talking about how big it is. Well I went and stood near it. I actually did a 360 around the car to get a feel of it's size. From what I remember those things weigh in around 3400, so they're not light, but compared to comparable coupes these days, it ain't heavy either.

Let's not let cars like the MX-5/BRZ/FRS delude our minds here. Even average sports (or sporty) cars these days typically push close to 3800 lbs. or more. So the GC (especially the 2.0T) are fairly light in comparison. After having walked around the GC and really looked at it in detail, it's MHO that the car isn't all that big at all. There was a Mustang V6 and a Camaro in the same lot and I stood next to them too for comparison. Those cars were not only immensely bigger, but none of them remotely conveyed a sense of nimble-ness or athleticism like the GC did. I really don't see why so many here knock it. It's actually a pretty good looking car IMO. It's proportions are pretty good too, also IMO.

I came away with this on my mind. I didn't like the front end of the last gen. That isn't to say I like the new one all that much more, but I was able to conclude that the last gen's front end looks unfinished and unpolished. It definitely doesn't convey a sense of sophistication like the new ones. Like it or not, the new one seems to convey a sense of sophistication, on a design level, that the old gen just doesn't have. Add in all the new improvements, even with the price hike, and I still think it's a great contender. Now I'm not saying that we should all go out and buy one, but I can predict one thing when either of the two (3.8 or 2.0T) comes to a stop next to us at a stop light I can guarantee that some amount of respect will be paid. Heavy porker with an ugly nose or not.

I agree with you on everything except on the front end of the pre 2013's. The only bad thing about the old front end was that the grille was cheap and ugly and can be easily replaced with good looking alternatives from the aftermarket.

MSRP

GC 2.0T= $24,250
FRS= $24,200

MSRP + dest fees

GC 2.0T= $25,215
FRS= $24,930 to $24,985 (depending on destination fees)

GC is heavier, larger, doesn't have as good of steering feel (per reviewers comments) and not as good looking as the BRZ/FRS. However it does have more power, more useable back seats?, better warranty, and probably a more useable DD car due to power curves.

BRZ/FRS is smaller, lighter, better seating position, better steering feel, better styling, better design as a sports car from beginning to end. However BRZ/FRS probably will force you to "row" the gears a lot in every day driving (not necessarily a bad thing), smaller back seats, not as good of warranty and not as much HP.

Just a few of the differences I could think of right now between the two cars.

If I remember correctly, the torque curve on the dyno was actually pretty good. AP1 S2k this probably isn't-so if you'd be satisfied with the ~150, it shouldn't need to be revved TOO badly. Especially at the weight that it is.

I guess I should have put the "rowing" the gears in quotes since people have different expectations for regular DD duties. But you are right, based on the dyno it might not be that bad. Will just have to wait until we can test drive it.
