You can rip them, store the files on a SD card, and save yourself the problems that usually come up with having mechanical pieces such as optical disc drives inside car stereos, specially on chinese no-name headunits.

I know, I know lol I get it. I'm not saying it will be used every day but I'd like to be able to grab a dvd if I'm going on a road trip to throw in and not need to know ahead of time to be able to rip it first etc. I have a ton of dvds, having to know ahead of time to be able to rip it first isn't worthwhile to me. I'll have the option to rip it to an SD card in addition to the dvd disc.

Replaced my stock speakers + Bazooka 100 Watt 8inch with the OEM Audio+ CF400 Reference system. It's definitely a cleaner sound, the bass isn't really stronger than what the Bazooka was doing, but for music that requires a lot of clarity between softs and louds, this system's got what you need. When I purchased the system, I was able to select Ca-Fi as my head unit to get the specific DSP configuration flashed on it. Keeping the Ca-Fi's EQ settings on Flat and Loudness disabled, the system sounds very clean and crisp, as they say.

That all said, if your'e just looking for some extra kick in the bass department, the 100 watt 8 inch Bazooka did the job admirably for less than 200 bucks.

Having a ton of bass is horribly overrated. The OEM+ reference system set on "full" is almost too much for me.

Then again, for some odd reason the bass seemed to increase significantly with the same speakers after applying an update to the Ca-Fi HU. *shrug*

Having a remote bass adjustment knob is key, esp when you have a significant other who hates bass. It also allows adjusting bass level for sources that have higher or lower bass levels.

This is a completely serious comment, so I hope you take it seriously: I hope this is for your passengers and not for you.

Of course not for me, for the gf or whoever is with me.

How are you guys handling not having data for apps that need it, such as Waze? I'm on verizon on an unrooted phone so I cannot use it as a hot spot.

I'm using apex as my launcher. Our seems to have to redraw the home screen each time I switch to it. This also happened on the stock launcher previously. The memory manager on this thing is crazy as it will also close my Bluetooth app while on the background and streaming.
Any solutions?

A centimeter or so? Yeah right, I don't think you actually realize how much space an optical disc reader takes up.

Why don't we drop the subject and stay on the topic of THIS UNIT, it's already cluttered enough in this thread.

Before I got tethering (yay for being on call), I would just cache the route in google maps via wifi before I left. It got the job done but having data makes things a lot easier for sure.

I thought about that, but for Waze it updates a route in real time based on events. I just bought a FreedomPop WiFi hotspot which provides 500mb per month for free. $20 well spent, I hope lol.

That dongle is huge. Wait, I didn't mean, whatever, the plug in thing, monstrous. Is there a wired solution? My interest in this unit is to run the Torque app so wired in is preferable. Having that big doodad dangling around under my dash where I can snap it off working the pedals is a no go.

Yes there are wired ones you can plug in via USB. Which ones work, that I do not know.
