And the first thing that popped in my head was levorg...since that is Subaru's performance 4wd hatch/wagon. (i guess its kind of an in between an impreza hatch and legacy wagon) Just doesnt make sense to me that if they mention a 4wd performance hatch of some kind they'd make a impreza STI or something since they have a Levorg that does it already. And upon further reading of said article i dont think its an american based site so the Levorg to NA thinking is nullified by that lol. |

Exactly this. I was told that the system should take into account things like battery charge, run time, outside temp, AC requirements.

Shuts down when the clutch is out in neutral. The engine starts back up when you press the clutch pedal in before shifting out of neutral. Leaving the car in first with the clutch pressed in at a light won't shut the car off.

OK, so since I never take a car out of gear when I'm sitting in traffic, I guess it would never shut off.

The first (and only) vehicles I've driven with start/stop gas engines where built by Yamaha and looked something like this:

I've done that ever since I learned how to drive a stick. Staying in gear with the clutch disengaged watching your mirrors at stops and lights is taught in motorcycle safety courses in case you have to move quickly to get out of the way of a vehicle coming up from behind. Back when I still rode bikes on the street I almost got smashed by a dipshit in a SUV looking at his phone. If I had been sitting there in neutral or not watching my mirrors I doubt I would have had the reaction time to get out of the way. Judging from the damage done to the truck in front of me, I probably would have at least lost my legs being crushed between the two. I'll take a chance on wearing out the throwout bearing prematurely. |

Exactly. Car in first, clutch pushed in, eyes all around ready to go. 100s of thousands of miles driven this way, wouldn't do it any other method.

Which brings me back to the point that unless you have an electric oil pump autostop is still a hard no go for me if I can't turn it off. Well, at least on a car that is my fun car. My Buick is a compromise with my wife lol. |

Just make sure that the starter is as inaccessible as possible. Then while I'm in your customer lounge stewing over cost of replacement you can send some idiot in to pitch a new prius.
