Toyota/Subaru: around 2600lbs - reality 2760lbs. Ford: around 200lbs less - reality a bit more than outgoing model. Corvette: lighter (don't recall number) - reality ~100lbs more than outgoing model.

The 2010 C6 was 3208 lbs. The C7 is 3298. 90 lbs doesnt make a whole lot of difference when the C7 has more power. It's still better than the Camaro and Mustang curb weight differences.

No reason to doubt it..
300whp is not hard to achieve at all with a 4 cylinder engine and direct injection engine. Ford just needs to stand by it for warranty work

I don't know, I would stick to Toyota for the best customer service + Guarantees

I agree about tuning the 4cyl turbos, but I have not seen a produced stock turbo inline 4 making over 300 HP...unless tuned STI which is a boxer

That will definitely be a deal breaker if it's heavier. I was really looking forward to a lighter version. That would have been a huge selling point for me personally. I'm really looking into getting another V8 and I'm trying to avoid the cost of another M3.

Stock tune STI makes over 300 bhp.

Or were you talking about whp (which the auto manufacturers don't publish)?

They did what most American car companies do, oversell the product and under-deliver. The Corvette is the only worthy car, sure it's base price is $51,000 but it's only 90 lbs heavier which in respect to a car is basically nothing and it can defeat a more expensive car with ease.

so how much heavier is the new mustang? i havent heard a number but everyone is so quick to criticize (not directed toward you in particular). its also worth mentioning that the mustang goes head to head with cars much more expensive as well.

167 lbs heavier. According to Edmunds it's 3700 even now, the previous model was 3533. Yeah the one thing that still bugs the shit out of me in the Mustang vs M3 video for Motor Trend is that the M3 had it's competition package but conveniently left out the Mustang's track package. which to me looks suspicious as hell like MT fixed the race.

Nope, the M3 is 3483. So just slightly lighter than the Mustang.

well when i checked edmunds, they call it a guess and say its 100 lbs. im not saying it wont be heavier (especially if it has independent suspension). im just a little hesitant to criticize based on pure speculation.

well they arent in the same class but if you look at numbers its the 86 that cant be competitive with the mustangs. i dont think anybody bought the frs to be competitive. i dont think that was the point of this car

Of course that wasn't the point, but this thread IS "BRZ/FR-S vs. 2015 Mustang". It was speculated earlier that this new refresh might make the Mustang actually competitive with our nimble cars but bring the higher HP to bear as well. The weight increase negates that handling assumption pretty handily, I think. So, like the Mustangs of yore, it goes fast in a straight line, and..... that's about it.
